We learn how-to sew an elastic waistband skirt with Fabrika Fine Fabrics in Savannah, Georgia.

How did you get started?

We met in a sewing class in college here in Savannah, Georgia. We were both the older "weird" students in the class, so we immediately stuck together! Throughout the quarter, we found it challenging to find high quality materials locally. One day we just so happened to be getting our hair done at the same place and same time when one of the stylists recommended we start a business, which at the time we sort of laughed off. Then before we knew it, we were in the process of opening up our store!

Where are you located?

We are located in beautiful, historic downtown Savannah, Georgia, US. We are fortunate to have a storefront in one of the area's original homes.

Which products do you specialise in?

We specialize in high quality natural fabrics, sewing notions, small batch patterns, handmade gifts and garments, and a variety of locally made gifts and fabric. We also carry industry standard pattern drafting tools, facings, and industrial sewing machine parts.

Do you have a particular favorite product that you sell?

It's so hard to pick because we carry all of our favorite supplies! From the traditional notions that our grandmother's used to newer inventions, as avid sewists, we've honed in on the tools that we like to use.

What's on the stereo?

Usually The Pixies or The Smiths.

Where else should we visit in your area?

If you're in Savannah, you should stop by The Frayed Knot for the most lovely yarn, grab some lunch from the Sentient Bean, get a cup of coffee from The Foundery, take your puppy by The Grateful Hound, and then get tattooed at Anonymous Tattoo.

Do you host any workshops, classes or special events?

We participate in neighborhood events and open houses, and host events to raise funds and awareness for our charities- French Bulldog Village & Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

We try, as a store, to educate our community on the importance and value of handmade goods and the value of the materials going into a finished product. We work a lot with the students at the local art school here, SCAD, in hopes that we can inspire and educate young artists about the realities are being a maker and entrepreneur.

Do you have a favorite craft, art or supply shop in your town that we should feature? Send us a message!
