We stop off at the 24 Diner in Austin, Texas to learn how-to make a Roasted Banana & Brown Sugar Milkshake.

How did you get started?

We wanted to create a place that offered comfort food made with local and seasonal products whenever possible and prepared perfectly to the exacting standards of our CIA-trained chef – 24 hours a day. Plus, craft beer, wine, a full bar and decadent milkshakes to go with it.

Where are you located?

We are located at the intersection of Sixth Street and Lamar Boulevard in downtown Austin, Texas.

What are your specialities?

Our specialties include Chicken & Waffles, breakfast hash, Meatloaf with Sweet Onion Gravy and burgers made with house-ground premium natural beef on pain au lait buns baked daily at our sister shop, Easy Tiger Bake Shop & Beer Garden. The seasonally rotating Market Plate and Market Bruschetta are always good options. Food & Wine named our grilled cheese sandwich and no-bean chili among the best in the country.

What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?

Breakfast: Housemade Veggie Sausage (beets, mushrooms, lentils, rice, pumpkin seeds & golden flaxseeds)
Lunch: Bacon Avocado Burger with Charred Poblano
Dinner: Roasted Chicken
Anytime: Peanut Butter & Chocolate Milkshake

What's on the stereo?

Depends on the time of day and who is managing! Our playlist includes a wide span of genres, including artists such as Amos Lee, Marvin Gaye, Phoenix and The Doors.

Where else should we visit in your area?

We're next door to the iconic Waterloo Records, across the street from independent bookstore BookPeople and diagonal from Whole Foods' headquarters and flagship shop.

Do you host any special events?

We do have special pairing dinners from time to time. During SXSW, you can catch amazing (and free!) Waterloo Records music showcases in our parking lot.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?
