Features

I'm Angel Szafranko and I'm an animator and artist living in Toronto. I've been drawing and doing artsy stuff since I was little. I've always been into crafts too. Right now I animate on a toddler show by day and draw and paint by night!

My artwork has been described as; weird, colourful, strange, bright and fun. I love art and I love creating artwork. I am very inspired by everyday life, nature, animals, dreams and fashion.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

I'm going to say yes, I have... ever since I was very small. The other kids in class would be drawing for the grade or because they were told to. But I would keep drawing during our breaks and at home. I just really enjoyed it.

How would you describe the style of your work?

Colourful, cute and sometimes weird.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

A bunch of pencils, markers, the usual. I think my favourite took to use is my thin black markers for outlining my sketches. I haven't done this in a while but I used to ink a lot of my stuff back in the day.

Who is your favorite superhero?

Oh that is a hard one. Batman! I love that he's a superhero but he has no actual powers.

If you could have one super power what would it be?

I'd love to be able to fly. Just the thought of being able to take off anytime I want... sounds awesome to me. Plus no traffic.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Lots of places. Mainly the internet! But I also like to go out for walks, looking at animals and sometimes dreams inspire me too.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

loll3, Liz Lorini (miss Kikra), Modern Girl Blitz, Creaturetype, Wishcandy, Deadspiderhands (Ally), Danny Brito, and there are more but those are just off the top of my head.

No comic book authors, just starting to get into reading comics really. :]
