"Being a blogger, graphic designer and photographer its really important for me to have a work space that I love! A place that's full of things that inspire me and motivate me to be creative and build my business helps me stay fresh and stress free! I'd have to say my cork board full of little notes, magazine clippings and gorgeous pictures is definitely my favorite thing in the space! I love updating it with some of my graphic design work, and pretty pictures! "




Tell us about your space?
My studio/ work space is located in the tiny corner of my room! Its the perfect little corner for me to blog, do DIY's and plus it allows a lot of natural light in which is great for pictures! The walls are a light minty turquoise color and I thrifted a cute little table that I painted black that which sits next to my window; all the bright light really makes me happy!

Is this also your work space?
Yes, this is my work space and occasionally my craft space! I do most of the DIY's seen on my blog, The Perfect Pear in my craft space! The most recent crafts I've done are leather studded bracelets and some thin silver knuckle rings! 

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I love bringing fresh flowers and foliage into my space, it makes it so much prettier to look at! :) The latest thing that I added is a cute little succulent in a seafoam green pot, I'm quite smitten with it! 

How do you keep organized?
My desk is usually pretty clean, having jars and drawers with little compartments for papers and sticky notes really helps!

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
Jars! I love using jars to organized my supplies like scissors, pens and other crafty supplies like pliers and such! I love the rustic feel, but they're also really practical! The other tip I have is just to label things and have a definite place for everything and once you're done using it, put it away! If you have pretty ways of storing things, you'll be happy to clean things up and you'll like the way things look when its tidy!

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
My succulent, as weird as this sounds is probably my current favorite thing in my little space! I occasionally put some of my graphic design work on my cork board but for the most part there's not much of my work around, just the odd jewelry piece!

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I have a ton of notebooks that have scribbles of ideas all over the place! I love looking back into the notebooks and being inspired all over again! I also use the tool Wunderlist online to help with ideas and to-do's, its been a real lifesaver and I don't how I got anything done without it! 

Where do you look for inspiration?
Other bloggers, Pinterest of course, Dribbble and I also really like looking at Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie as well!

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream craft space?
I would move my space out of my room and into a bigger place, it would have gorgeous clean white walls with lots of storage space, a big computer monitor and maybe one of the walls would be a big chalk wall! I'd also love a hanging swing from the roof that I could take breaks and drink tea on! A girl can dream.

How would you describe your style?

Simple and classic with a modern twist. I like trying out new trends, but I prefer to stick to comfortable and classic pieces.

What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?

My watch and my wedding rings. I recently inherited my Grandmother's watch. She was such an incredible and strong woman. Wearing her watch makes me feel like she's there with me every day. As for my wedding rings, my husband and I got married 11 months ago. He is the most wonderful man alive! Looking down at my rings throughout the day reminds me how lucky I am to be married to such an amazing man.

Who are your style icons?

Kate Middleton, Julianne Hough, Giuliana Rancic. I also really like to see what short celebrities are wearing. I'm only 5'2, so I love to see how other 5'2-ish ladies dress. Some of them are so good at it you would think they are much taller! Kristin Cavallari, Eva Longoria, Kelly Osbourne, the Olsen twins, and Kourtney Kardashian come to mind.

Do you have any favourite designers?

Right now I'm really loving the beachy, Cali-girl vibes of Calypso St. Barth, Rory Beca, and Tory Burch and the edgy feel from Rebecca Minkoff and recent Valentino. Burberry, Prada, and Diane von Furstenberg are such classics- they are always favorites!

Where are your favourite places to shop for new clothes clothes?

Gap, J.Crew, The Limited, Zara, Nordstrom, Ann Taylor, Marshalls/TJ Maxx, and sooo many more. I also enjoy perusing eBay for discounted designer finds- I love the thrill of the chase!

Do you make or customise your outfits?

I wish! I would really like to learn how to sew. I am in the processing of learning to knit, but that's as good as it gets.

Do you have any great tips for mixing up and personalising an outfit?   

Wear what makes you feel good about yourself. I think an outfit should always make you feel like a million bucks. That's not to say that I don't enjoy the occasional sweatpants day, but when I'm going out to run errands or something, I can tell a noticeable difference in my mood and confidence when I get dressed in a nice outfit. On the other hand, this doesn't mean you have to wear a couture gown everyday- a tailored shirt, a classic pair of pumps, skinny jeans that fit like a glove, or a flirty sundress are my go-to options.

Which other fashion blogs do you love to read? 

The Sweetest Thing Blog, Bows and Sequins, Barefoot Blonde, Franish, Sam Ipsa Loquitor, The Pink Peonies, Cupcakes and Cashmere, and Gal Meets Glam. Also, more so a beauty blog than fashion blog, but Maskcara is really great!

We love craft fairs and CO+Ker Dianna had such a great time at the Britain Does Vintage in her new hometown of Huddersfield that she wrote a little review for us:
So moving from big London city to a slow town has its own hurricane of difficulties but I really wasn't expecting it would be so difficult to find lots of cute indie clothes shops. Nowadays it feels like big dept shops have taken over...

Until I saw a flyer in my local library at Huddersfield (West Yorkshire) advertising a craft fair. It's travels, popping up across the UK so you can find one near you or hop on a train for a day trip. This is my first time going and I'm sure not my last. 
So here's what you do you:


Mark down in your diary when they are next visiting and turn up to the venue (GOOGLE MAPS:)

Sometimes they ask you for a teeny weeny entrance fee to raise money for a local charity 
and then you Shop, Drink Tea and talk with some of the stall holders. (Love collecting business cards)

Everything is reasonably priced and you WILL find a bargain. If your bored/frustrated with lack of independent shops in your area this is the perfect cure, guaranteed you'll find something homemade/vintage/unique.

I suppose every event is unique, at the Huddersfield one they had a live singer with an "uhhmazing" sassy voice and a fancy dining area for afternoon tea and found on their website and found they sometimes do crafty workshops! "


We take a tour of the bright and colorful craft space of our favorite food crocheter Twinkie Chan in San Francisco, California.

"I always knew I wanted my craft room to have yellow walls. I picked a yolk-y, extremely warm yellow with a lot of orangey-red undertones. I wanted my room to have a happy, sunshiny feeling."




Tell us about your space?
My craft space is the second bedroom in my house. It's upstairs and faces the street, and on a (rare) sunny day here, it's one of the brightest and warmest rooms. Sometimes when my BFF is spending the night, we blow up the air mattress and stick her in here amongst the yarn, but other than that, the space is pretty much solely for craft work and solely for me.

Is this also your work space?
This is also technically my office. My computer is in here, as well as my printer/scanner, my shipping supplies and thermal label printer. Now that my dream of having a separate craft room has come true, I would really love to at least have a separate table for boxing up orders and shipping! Even though my yarn lives in here, I don't do any crocheting in the craft room, since I don't have comfy seating. I do all my crocheting in the living room, parked in front of the TV!  I'll do all non-crochet work in here, such as, gluing hair accessories and brooches together, cutting felt for accents, gluing decorations to scarves and other crochet work, beading, photo editing, blogging, emailing, yarn ball winding, and sometimes I'll take photos in here for Etsy if the light is good that day.

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

Aside from that, my supplies aka my yarn really provide inspiration to me. I just love the LOOK of yarn, and having my yarn wall is extremely delightful! It can be hard to keep my craft room looking tidy, because I'm so busy most of the time that I don't spend much energy re-organizing or re-decorating. I just let the supplies decorate the room for the most part. I collect a little plush here and there, but don't want to go too overboard. I've been trying to pick up colorful prints made by friends and fellow crafters here and there, but I'm so bad at getting frames for them!

How do you keep organized?
I recently mentioned on Twitter that it's kind of unfortunate that my crafting is such a messy job. I have to spend so much time cleaning up after my last project, in comparison to, say, a graphic designer who doesn't have to put all the yarn away, or a writer who doesn't have to pick up fabric scraps before starting a new project.  I have clutter around me constantly, but you really have to clean regularly before it gets too overwhelming! I have a lot of plastic bins to keep finished projects in. Works in progress are usually sprinkled all over the coffee table in the living room or on tables in the craft room. I am the kind of person who needs to SEE things to remember them, so if I hid the progress projects, I might forget to finish them! I have plans, though, to create curtains for some of my shelves and to hide things under tables. Plastic bins are helpful but a little unsightly! My supply stash is enormous, too enormous, and it's all here in the craft room. (Okay, that's a lie. I had to hide 3 ugly boxes of yarn in the hallway to take photos!) I have some spare shipping supplies down in my garage, but everything I use to create magic is shoved in shelves or tucked into a plastic bin in here. Yarn goes on the yarn wall, and other small supplies are in cute jars and containers on a pink shelf designed and built by my friend or in plastic drawers!

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
To be honest, I am not a very organized person! Or, I just don't choose to spend the time thinking about organization. I try to use plastic bins to separate the little things or get cute containers from places like Target or Daiso. I also have a little wooden card-catalogue-like storage solution for smaller supplies like jewelry findings and pom poms. Everyone asks me what kind of shelves I keep my yarn in, and they are CD shelves from IKEA. This is an easy and obvious tip: but it's crucial for everything to have a place. I experience a lot of anxiety over the fact that things never seem to have a place, so you need to try to create one!

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
- My ball winder and swift! I used to wind hanks of yarn with my knees and my hands. Having actual tools to do this has been a real time saver, and both were gifts, so that makes them extra special to me. 
- My glue gun! I know glue guns get a really bad rap because they leave strings and the adhesive is allegedly not so great, but I love mine. I wish they invented a glue stick for the hot glue gun that was for clothing and washable! I want to glue gun everything!

If I plan to sell something, I try to tuck it away in a bin to keep the lint and dust off them. I have some craft duds that I'll never sell, and they usually end up being default display pieces, but I try not to have too much of my work hanging about. I'd rather they find homes with other people! I do hang the crochet-paintings on the wall until they are sold, though. I love how they make a space feel cozy.

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I have a notebook for jotting down ideas, making small sketches, and taking pattern notes. This is separate from my notebook with the day's to-do lists and notes. I also keep a small notebook in my purse. You have to write down ideas before you forget them, because you WILL forget them! That's about the extent of my organization! My life is more like a collage than a filing cabinet.

Where do you look for inspiration?
I don't usually need to sit down and figure out how to be inspired. I usually have a backlog of ideas. What I lack is the time to execute everything! To be inspired to keep going and walk the walk, I like to read Elsie & Emma's blog, A Beautiful Mess. They seem to know how to make the most of their day. Observing others be productive inspires me to be productive!

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream craft space?

I'm a big online shopper, I like the indie small shops because you can find one of a kind hip trendy pieces!

When I have time I love to throw in my own flare to everything from my hair color to adding ribbon shoe laces.

Do you have any great tips for mixing up and personalising an outfit?  

Add color! Dying clothing is so easy and chic looking, also making big necklaces by linking together tons of vintage ones. It becomes a statement piece!

The best thing about living in Butte is we have art, history, beautiful architecture, and some of the best people around!




This week we head to Berlin in Germany to take a tour of Kathie from Curious and Catcat's craft space and office.

"I think my favorite thing about my craft space is the desk. It got a huge make-over when we moved here.  I painted the tabletop white and stained and painted two simple trestles from IKEA, which made them look kind of high-quality. I put a lot of work in this desk and I love the new look. It's my favorite piece in this room."





Tell us about your space?
My craft room is in Berlin, Germany. Me and my boyfriend have been living in this flat for just 4 months now. There are only two rooms apart from bathroom and kitchen, so the smaller one is our bedroom and the bigger room has to be multi-purpose. It solves as my craft space, my boyfriends place to study and work, and as our living room. So naturally it's the room where we spent the most time in, be it to work, craft, sit with friends, or to snuggle up in front of the TV (read: laptop) for a movie. It has been quite a challenge to address everyone's needs on just 14ft x 17ft! I believe we managed that quite well, but in the 4 month we lived here I have rearranged everything at least 3 times and it will probably look different in another 4 months. It's by far not the living room (or craft room) of my dreams, but we made the best of it.

Is this also your work space?
Of course I use this room also to "work". I do paperwork on my desk or study for my master's degree. Picture editing and blogging happens there, too, as long as the desk isn't flooded with all kinds of craft supplies. In that case I move on to the sofa or the kitchen table. That's also one of the things I like about our multi-purpose room - the ability to move around. I like to do crochet or embroidery projects on the sofa, sewing projects on my desk, paper crafts and bigger projects on the floor. I even painted furniture in this room!

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
Even with two work spaces in this room, I didn't want it to feel crowded or shapeless. We painted a part of the walls in a deep dark bordeaux (In retrospect I would've chosen a dark grey instead, but that's another story) which really helps to optically separate the living room area from the rest of the space and makes it feel cozy and warm. For my craft space I chose white as the main color and I love how bright my little space gets with the light from the window next to it. I filled the space with plants and books and I always keep colorful craft supplies and fabrics  on display, they're a great source of inspiration and it makes me happy just to look at them.

How do you keep organized?
Thank god I have such a large desk! There's plenty of room for supplies and stacks of paper and the sewing machine all at the same time. Somehow I usually manage to end some projects and tidy up before I have to take over the window sill and the next shelf and the floor to keep my crafts "organized". I  also like to spread out craft supplies on my desk just to look at them for hours and envision future projects. But apart from that, everything has it's place on the shelves or in the cupboards and tidying up is always quick and easy.

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
I love my peg board to keep my stuff organized. I can arrange and rearrange craft supplies and tools or use it to just get things out of the way. Storage in open shelves works great for me as well,  and adds pops of color to my space. I use transparent boxes in the cupboard and for the supplies that I store in the bedroom. When we moved here I gave every single item in my craft corner its designated place and try to stick to it - And I really have give myself a pat on the shoulder for that, it saves so much time when looking for something or tidying up!

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
I love my cantilever sewing box. I find myself opening is more often than I really need, because it looks just too beautiful and it's the cutest storage place for some of my colorful yarns and buttons.

Another favorite is the cross stitched portrait of my brothers and me on the shelf over my desk. It always makes me smile.

And I already mentioned my desk. I love my desk!

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I have a notebook or two which I carry everywhere I go to collect my ideas and sketches as soon as they come to my mind. I use my clipboards on the wall to keep inspirations on display, and everything I find on the Internet goes directly onto one of my Pinterest boards.

Where do you look for inspiration?
I'm a huge Pinterest addict (but who isn't). It's an endless source of inspiration for me as are blogs and (web) shops or magazines. Sometimes only looking at my supplies or a beautiful fabric brings up ideas. But the times when my brain almost bursts from ideas are those when I have to study for the final exams and have no time to craft. It always reminds me of Picasso who once said "Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working."

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream craft space?
First, I would  get it out of the living room. I wouldn't mind sharing the room with my boyfriend, but as a work and craft space and not more. Second, it would be in a large room with big windows and a lot of light. Third, I would add a little tea and coffee bar and a huge comfy chair.
