thanks! :D It was just a cheap poplin / cotton fabric.. I had a limited budget and a lot of yards to buy....

I was able to achieve the bustle look with plastic rings and ties sewn at different heights on the inside. The pattern I mentioned shows you how to do it, I changed it around a bit to get the height and shape I wanted. Its nice cause I can always loosen the ties for a softer look, tighten them to make a fuller bustle or untie them entirely and have the skirt hang. The way I'm wearing it in the pic is with the red layer tied tight all around and the black layer tied tight at the front and loose at the back to give a high-low effect.

Next try a horse, a baby giraffe and a white shark :D

I think an important thing to remember when things get hard is that you can't control your circumstances but you can always control your actions and your attitude.

I'm currently being treated for general anxiety... it can get overwhelming if I let it but enjoying the little things like a movie with my sisters or a really great craft project can help keep me positive. Most important though is knowing that I am in control of my own well being - it's what motivated me to get help and gain some perspective on my anxiety.

Best party I ever hosted was my sister's wedding shower. When I was 19 I was my sister's maid of honor so I hosted her shower... I it was a beautiful fall brunch with fresh fruit, loads of breakfast pastries and two kinds of quiche. My boyfriend's mom had amazing pottery barn fall serving dishes and platters that she let me use so it looked as good as it tasted. I had to save a while to pay for all it but it went off without a hitch with yummy food, fun games and gorgeous gifts :) I think I was a good maid of honor considering...

hmmm... for overall crafting I'd have to say paint. Whether decorative or functional, its amazing what fresh coat of paint can do to transform the look of a piece. A-mazing.

A good caprese salad is yummy all summer long. Thick slices of mozzarella (or even the herb marinated balls), ripened tomatoes and fresh basil make a perfect mix. I like balsamic dressing reduced to a glaze... its not very original but always classic and delicious!

I love Fossil bags... the vintage look, the quality leather and the sheer style all adds up to a beautiful bag. My personal perfect bag would be a medium sized purse, one strap, over the shoulder, magnet closure, with the perfect combination of structure and style and of course a good amount of pockets... I'm still on the hunt but I have faith that if I don't find it one day I can make it :)

The most fearless sewing project I've ever done was actually my friend's project. I helped her put together her Cinderella dress. Most of the dress was pieced together from different patterns and ones we made ourselves but it turned out beautiful... It was my first time using a a serger and there were just so many layers of chiffon it was crazy :D

I worked at a cafe and was friends with the cooks so I got my dream breakfast made custom for me all the time :D

Some days I would get something decadent like big slices of brioche with sauteed bananas and chocolate syrup

Other days I would get an amazing three cheese omelet with goat cheese, monterey and cheddar topped with pesto

and my favorite was a scramble with egg white, chicken, and salsa and just a bit of garlic aioli with multigrain toast :)

Mmmm this is interesting. I have difficult hair that gets noticeably greasy (especially at the bangs) after just one day. I like showering every day but it can be harsh on my hair. I've tried the spray in dry shampoo which is difficult to get all the powder out and leaves my hair with a weird texture...

haha thats so true. The kids I babysit are always stripping the dolls... the funny thing is all the prince dolls have colored undies yet the princesses have nude panties and no bra! Best tip I can give is to make it yourself to fit your needs.

I was tired of my sewing gear being all over the place while working on a project or stored in various storage containers so I made my own roll up kit custom for all the tools I use the most. All it took was some spare fabric and a good ruler.

It's adhering tiny fiber particles to a surface to create texture. You can find flocking powders at any craft store.

I'd sew a simple spring dress for my boyfriend's three year old little sister. She love dresses, especially when they're pink. I'd use the scraps to make a matching dress for her teddy bear, Beary Beary.

Learn by doing. When trying a new project have ready the supplies for second version, because chances are you'll be impatient and make silly mistakes the first time. Treat it as practice and move on to the next because the second time around always comes out perfect :)
