Surely I could gather the answer by looking at your other lists, but It seemed like more fun to just ask.
Also, There's a list there labeled "4 store" Do you have one, or plans to have one soon?
Lulz
Just part of the joys of being old and uncontrollable!
Although my 5yr old(at the time) got really testy about it. Up until he looked at it really really closely and also that you can still see the letters and numbers pretty well. "MOM I CANT FIND THE 'D' !!!! THEY'RE NOT IN ORDER!!!"
The only time there are for sure directions for a project is when its specifically a "how to"
As far as this project is concerned; It's easy enough. Just look up some directions for marbled nails and do exactly the same thing and instead of dipping in your fingers, use a lighter. You'll want to put some electric tape (or something else) around the metal part of the lighter, it's most likely gonna get wet anyway but you don't want to get nail polish on anything in there. When you put the lighter in hold it from the top and the bottom and lay it in the water horizontally. (like I said check out some water marbled nail tutorials for all the extra nail polish steps.) Totally optional bits: spray it with a clear coat spray paint finish to seal it so it doesn't all come off from regular wear and tear stuff like that. If this is too vague let me know I'll give some better directions. I don't wanna get too indepth for just a reply

I like it! Very intuitive. Ha ha, now if only I had a black light. Do they stay that bright forever? Or maybe you got give 'em a good shakin'? Seems too good to be true that they would last for very long.

And it may be a little bit weird, but I think we have the same eye shadow set...lol yeah, weird.
That's AWESOME, It makes me squee! I don't know why I never got a notification for this! It's just great to know that people can actually follow my tutorials.
Lol I really starting to think that one (or both) of us, ought to snap some pictures of them actually in some hair.
Oh duh! Don't know how I missed that one. I'm definitely gonna have to try this. I don't have the separator thing, or I'd try it your way. Do you think leftover potatoes would be gross? I won't eat 'em like that, I HATE leftover potatoes of any kind. But if you mix 'em into cake stuff...maybe it wouldn't matter?
So my sister and her friends do fire spinning events and outdoor raves, things like that and she's always looking for quirky things to make herself stand out. This is perfect idea!
For real Potato cake? Do you have a link for that? I've been looking at recipes for a healthier alternatives for my (nearly) diabetic mother...may not fit the bill but I'm so curious.
Did you find those beads at a store by any chance? I only ask because I have a bracelet I got out of little prize vending machine thingy that look almost exactly like those ones.
I can't get over that skirt. I've done that style a couple times, just kinda messing around with draping in stuff, but it totally never looks that good. What kind of fabrics did you use for this?
I was just wondering if that main picture is you, or someone else and you recreated the dress/outfit. I can't really tell by comparing it to the other picture. Pretty sure there was some crazy photo editing going on in the main pic.
Lol the first time I looked at this project there was only one picture, I was really confused. Glad to see you posted another picture. I thought maybe it was just an idea/pipe dream to recreate dress since everything was so vague.
Oh yeah for sure. The main character is walking around a basement and blood starts dripping down the insides of a hanging light bulb, like if the blood was coming out of the wires or something.
Around the snap? It's just one length of zipper doubled over. The zipper tape is kinda like bunched up around there, I put the snap over that part though.
YAY!!! HAPPINESS!! I love when people.male version from my tutorials!!! Also good to know that it wasn't too confusing to follow. But seriously you're fantastic!
I like how its got the two tones to it. I was wondering how that would look, but all I have around here is satin ribbon. Denied..
There isn't that much fire really. I thought it was gonna flame up all crazy like. My sister spins and eats fire. So she was ready for it. Its a seriously controlled burn. Ridiculously so. The only reason you really need to be burning the year above water bucket is because you have to change the temperature dramatically before it starts to cool down too much.
Before we started we were talking about different methods of going about this, just in case the first attempt failed. We figured braiding it made sense too. We tried it, it does work. And for the most part it doesn't make a difference either way. Although the one that had the braided yarn is the only that had a chip in the edge . I don't know if its a big enough margin to matter, but since there's less yarn/bottle surface area it doesn't distribute the heat as evenly. Hence the chip. Could be been an unrelated coincidence as well.
The mountain dew thing was a prank on you tube. Somebody posted a video saying that if you mixed mountain dew, baking soda and something else and then shake it up it'll glow in the dark. So of course I'm thinking that I absolutely had to try it. Doesn't work. I was so disappointed, and to top it off, I wasted mountain dew. (Which I drink religiously!!!) I did some research afterwards (I was too excited to try it to even bother reading the video comments) but it was an admitted prank. So now they have videos about putting glow stick innards in Mountain Dew, which, yeah duh of course that'll make it glow!
Funny story... So my 5 yr old came back from his dad's house with a similar shirt, only it had the heart inside the rib cage. And I was totally jealous. His shirt will probably fit me, cept the sleeves will be to short. Fortunately, I've (literally, just right now) decided to make my own; rather than wearing his.
I like yours better than a lot of the similar DIY versions I've seen, not just on this site but a bunch of other places. Shhh....but there's a lot of people out there who messed this one up.
How do you do your lace bits? Is it the lace edges/trim (I wouldn't know what else to call them) that you can buy from the spool or by the yard in the notions sections? Or is it from a bigger piece or lace and trimmed down to choker width? Or do you make it yourself? Maybe you've just been really lucky and been able to find some good stuff in the jewelry sections?
I noticed that you have another project posted recently that has a similar theme. I only ask because I haven't been able to find any kind of lace trim that looks that nice where I do my crafty shopping spree's. Nor in the jewelry or anything like that, been keeping my eyes peeled but I still can't find anything like that. It's been bugging me. I LOVE chokers, and I do really like yours, jealousy ensues.
Hey! I have a pair of earrings just like the skull and cross bone pendant! I never wear them, cause I've gauged out my ears since then. I have yet to figure out anything to do with mine, this is a great idea though.
That's fantastic! I have a couple of plastic babies, just like yours, leftover from a baby shower and I've been looking for something to do with them. See, fantastic.
Yeah I do, I'll have to do some research though. I don't remember all the math exactly but I'll look into it seeing as the original tutorial I followed is no longer available.
Thanks a bunch ton, I'm gonna check it out right now. Hopefully I'll be posting a version of my own real soon. I'm gonna have to round up some buttons now.
This is absolutely freaking adorable. If you have the pattern, or maybe you know of something close? That would fantastical. I mean I would have to learn how to crochet to make this but thats just how much I love it! :D
I think I'm gonna doodle up a how-to for it right now. Not quite sure if I'm gonna post it here or on my blog or both. But it'll get posted somewhere. I'll let people know when its done!
How well does this hold your needles in place? I have a terrible habit of carrying mine around with my in my purse So I can do a little handsewing whenever I want, plus quick repairs and stuff. I always end up stabbing myself with the needles that end up at the bottom.
Or maybe, how hard do you think it would be to install a zipper around the edges of it?
This is great. I've seen some of these at stores but I've never wanted to shell out the money for them. Not quite sure why I hadn't thought of making one myself.
How did you decoupage the words on, that part kinda of confused me since I can't see any lines or seams or anything.
And also I was wondering if you sculpted it brick by brick or craved the brick shapes into more of a solid brick shape.
@joanna - Lol, You're supposed to wash ashtrays?! I only wash my fancier glass ones.
I like your projects. I didn't realize it until now, but I just faved like three of your projects in a row. I love when that happens. Hence the friend request.
I'd love a tutorial. I just love how cute and simple this is. And it would match my button bracelet (it's in my projects if you're curious, sorry don't mean to do selfish plugging in your comments)
I've seen a ton of those button headbands but this is much more my style, the headbands are a too over done for me.
A tutorial would be nice. I'd love to know if you made the spines on your own out of clay or something, or a mold? Or if they were just a randomly great find as charms or something. And if that's the case where did you find those at? And where there other skeleton parts?
Do you use this for jotting down quick notes. Cause I would. Except then I guess you points would wear down weirdly, but I'd imagine they would normally, just from normal wear considering I'm sure you accidentally end up drawing on things anyway.
Thanks! I knew there had to be other people aside from her who loves narwhals as much. I don't really know why, they like arctic unicorns. What's not to love.
Thanks! I totally got the idea for doing all those snaps after seeing a pair for industrial-ish pair of spats. (at least I think they're called spats, those things for shoes.)
Thanks for all the faves! Hoping you'll accept my friend request...I wish I knew a better way to phrase that so I didn't sound so much like a crazy old cat lady :I
You hammer on the edge of coin for literally hours, using a second hammer as kind of an anvil. Then you drill a hole in the middle and file that down, and then sand it and then make it all super smooth and you can make it even shiny and smoother than this one here. My boyfriend isn't clean cut at all so it wouldn't have been very fitting if I had. Its also possible to do it with pure silver coins, they're rare but totally worth turning into a ring. Can't accidentally loose or spend them that way. The one I made actually turns your finger green so it needs a clear coat around it. I just love the difference between the bronze and the silver that's already naturally in the coin. I started a new one out of a plain quarter not to long ago so I'll have process pictures for a tutorial soon. Which is the only reason this one isn't.
@silene6 They're essentially super easy to make and you can find tons of tutorials and patterns online. My absolute favourite site is http://friendship-bracelets.net/
They have TONS of patterns and a pretty decent forum if you need help. Not to mention video, picture, and written tutorials.
@Christina Y. I attached two snaps on the ends with using the same kind of technique as I used on the buttons.
@Ellen Stewart. You have to essentially do one button at a time with one continuous length of strand crossing each hole around three times and then wrapping it around the middle twice and then heading onto the next connection bit. Left to right and moving directly below that and then moving right to left repeating that all the way down. It's kinda hard to explain really but the back of it ends up looking pretty terrible. If you've ever checked out the back of cross stitch project, you'll know what I mean.
How is this a featured project?! They didn't actually make this! Do the mods not actually look into this stuff! Kinda makes me loose faith in actually having a featured project.
I wish! But from what I hear that one won't work. I have a lot more vodka around my house than I do rubbing alcohol. I think its the concentration of alcohol vs. other ingredients or maybe something during the distilling process.
Hey!!! Someone else who's heard of that game...You're the first out of the many I asked before I gave up and googled it. I never actually played it for really I just stole the piggies.
I really like that idea, can't stand twilight. But overall its a great concept. My son can't stop looking in the mirror sometimes, I'm gonna have to make something like that but with super heroes or something instead. Thanks for the ideas!
HEY! I have those exact same socks! Both pairs even, kinda makes me wonder if it was you who stole them out of the dryer, cause one of them is missing. In both pairs even.
Those rings are awesome, I've got a couple of buttons that the pin doesn't work anymore or is just plain missing but I love them. I just don't have the heart to to throw them away.
I totally love these. I saw these online somewhere else, etsy maybe, probably. And the fact that it's a how-to so that I don't have to beg you to make one for it.
I actually did use wax paper on my first one, its in my projects, I did a fox on a tank-top and it turned out really awesome. Its one of my favies... I haven't really been able to find freezer paper, course I haven't really looked either.
Awww see now I kinda feel bad, cause I totally stole your photos as well...I did see that post though. I had put you on my watch list a couple days before. I was sad to see you go. Even if I didn't see you there.
I'll most likely be posting on DA, of which I believe I follow you, cause I'm kinda like a creepy stalker. It may end up here as well, dunno yet. I don't think too many people take much notice...meh. I'll for sure post some linkage for you.
BIOSHOCK for the win! I was gonna be a splicer for halloween this year but decided against it, I couldn't figure out the pattern for the dress in time, but your project is definitely on my to-do list for next year.
Totally fantasmick idea. Love it. Especially the cross stitching idea. I used to do that but lost interest because I could never find a real use for it, so mad props.
OMG, its on the to do list...my boyfriend is a super avid smoker too, and I always miss snuggling when hes gone...this would be perfect actually. As sad as that sounds, I know. I was gonna make one for him, but he didn't want one...cause he's lame and doesn't enjoy huge pillows like normal people.
So I found these a long time ago but I wanted to tell you that I'm totally stealing your idea for a digital painting. Its actually going to be a mashup of this and your other make-up projects...
Farking awesome, I always wanted a skirt, nearly just like that. Do you have an etsy or was it just a personal project kinda thing. Couldn't promise I'd have the money if you do, but I'd definitely check it out.
Theres nothing wrong with using tiny man panties for scrap fabric, personally I'm waiting for my son to grow outta some of his so I can use them. Actually I think that maybe worse, just cause I know how often they've been worn. But they have superheroes on them...which makes them to awesome to just throw away...cept for the skid marks...aaahhh potty training.
Thanks for the fave on my nails too!!! AND Super awesome thanks for posting your version, sorry I'm all way behind on my comments and such. Also makes me feel kinda special cause thats your first posted project. WOOOHOOO
I made a few variations on it of my own that I don't remember right now off the top of my head...my reading of the tutorial and execution were pretty far off. But essentially that's it.
Aw, as soon as I have the time and the patience for this I'm gonna do this with a mountain dew can and possibly a monster one too...Oh wait I have an even better idea...INSPIRED!!! I'll be posting a version a.s.a.p.
@ Gilly S. http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/soda_beer_can_ashtrays Essentially its the same concept, there's some tricky parts in the tutorial but I think it got explained somewhere in the comments.
I only picked the marker cause it was metal, I rifled through my boyfriends circular stuff drawer...its really a drawing utensil drawer I think. But that was the best thing I could find, I'd feel bad if I melted something that was for arting.
I've never really had a problem with sleeves really, of course this is only like the second or third shirt that I've made that wasn't short sleeved anyway, I usually just use old shirts as patterns, but this one I winged it, hence the frustration and awkward-ness.
@ Gilly, I got the ring shape by wrapping it around a permanent marker, the big metal kind that smell really bad and squeak when you write with them. After its melted you have about 10 seconds or so, I took the marker and rolled it along, kinda like a rolling pin.
@April- I kinda overlapped mine and they seem to be holding up really well. They're only overlapped them a tiny bit, they still give a little bit but I think it works out better that way. Mine are a little too big for me....I have these tiny hands...Also I'm not sure, and I doubt it, but maybe the clear coat is helping. My first ring I didn't coat and the ink started too smear onto my finger.
I guess Its not an actual zippo, its one of those really cheap one that normally comes with some kind of saying or picture printed on some kind of puffy plastic sticker thingy. I "spencer's" where ever you are, but that's where I see them most often.
http://www.spencersonline.com/
I don't know if they'll have them still mine was really old, originally it said "I said not to drugs, but they didn't listen"
Also I don't know anything about engravers actually, I purchased mine from an "as seen on t.v." store it came with two and was really cheap as in easily broken the first one, the bottom melted through, it was just that terribly cheap.
I rarely and I mean RARELY ever cut the bottoms of my shirts, I just continue the lines down and make it as long as possible. Hence the issue with my slayer shirt-dress...thing. Anyway...May I suggest finishing it mostly but throwing some real simple straps on there. You could wear it under a shirt with a really deep v-neck shirt, or sweater possibly. Or Or Or even better yet, cause I hate having those line from your one of your layers being two short you could just take the top of it and stitch onto a bra you aren't amazingly fond of and then you could wear it under nearly anything and it'll hid right in there with your bra line. Hell I think I may do that...I have shirt that whenever I wear them my sister calls me a tart...and then, I call her a skag. Its a fun time, cept I do feel kinda tarty for the rest of the day, but not in a dessert kinda way.
Yeah I was already thinking about it. It probably will just be drawings and estimations but I'll give it a go, I can show off my mad drawing skillz...psh as if. I got a new fancy wacom tablet to play with too. I got a birthday present for a 6yr old to make tonight as tomorrow is her party, and I'm super stoked which is the only reason I'm saying something about it now. Anyway...sooo a.s.a.p. I swear, cause I'm a big ol' attention whore.
So I just made this for the first time. farking delicious, winning for sure.
Only problem being that I was too impatient and I blew on the cake bits too cool it down but didn't realize how hot the spoon was and i burnt my lips in like three different places, its all ouchy now.
So I went to this concert...Manson was headlining and but slayer opened for them...weird I know, but the entire day I mean really the entire day people just started yelling SLAYER for no reason and once one person started it a whole bunch joined in. Pretty awesome to see a whole group of shirtless drunk guys yelling slayer so much that they get all red in the face and almost fall down...I love slayer don't get me wrong but if you're 'bout to pass out its time to stop.
And you have no idea how excited I was to read where you're your from....my sister is totally obssesed with that place and wants to move there...I have no idea how or why that so totes made my afternoon, but it did.
This was so totes awesome, I rumaged around the entire house found a bunch ton of key rings and kinda winged it. Not exactly and epic fail but all my rings spin the same way and theres a turtle charm in the middle. I'm going to the hardware store and when I do it right finally I'll post versions of my own, cause I'm making one for the boyfriend too. He doesn't know a thing about HP but he thought it was awesome. Kudos girlie.
Yeah, no. I'm sitting here staring at a fork, they don't look like that at all. possibly if you ran it over with a steam roller perhaps. And there are no jump rings in that picture at all.
I'm not so great at explaining the process without actually being in person but theres this site
http://friendship-bracelets.net/index.php
Its where I get all my patterns from, its really great, complete with tutorials and videos and things like that.
If you have any other questions about particulars I can try my best to answer them, send me a message, I usually check around here pretty often.

Regardless, i have faith in you!!!
aranumenwen 4 months ago

I really like that you used loops instead of button holes/gromets/just making holes. I think it adds extra character.
aranumenwen 7 months ago
Absolutely fantastic!
aranumenwen 7 months ago
Severely impressive!!! I was eyeballing that pattern yesterday actually. It turned out fantastic and it looks fabulous on you.

Fantasmic! I heart video game crafts.

Hey! I have a pair of earrings just like the skull and cross bone pendant! I never wear them, cause I've gauged out my ears since then. I have yet to figure out anything to do with mine, this is a great idea though.
Once they're done what do you do with them?
aranumenwen 10 months ago
That's fantastic! I have a couple of plastic babies, just like yours, leftover from a baby shower and I've been looking for something to do with them. See, fantastic.
aranumenwen 10 months ago
Yeah I do, I'll have to do some research though. I don't remember all the math exactly but I'll look into it seeing as the original tutorial I followed is no longer available.

aranumenwen about 1 year ago
This is absolutely freaking adorable. If you have the pattern, or maybe you know of something close? That would fantastical. I mean I would have to learn how to crochet to make this but thats just how much I love it! :D
aranumenwen about 1 year ago
This is super awesome...I'd love to make one too. Is it just the usb stick stuck into a different casing then?
aranumenwen about 1 year ago
I think I'm gonna doodle up a how-to for it right now. Not quite sure if I'm gonna post it here or on my blog or both. But it'll get posted somewhere. I'll let people know when its done!
aranumenwen about 1 year ago
How well does this hold your needles in place? I have a terrible habit of carrying mine around with my in my purse So I can do a little handsewing whenever I want, plus quick repairs and stuff. I always end up stabbing myself with the needles that end up at the bottom.
Or maybe, how hard do you think it would be to install a zipper around the edges of it?
aranumenwen about 1 year ago

Hence the friend request.
aranumenwen about 1 year ago
I'd love a tutorial. I just love how cute and simple this is. And it would match my button bracelet (it's in my projects if you're curious, sorry don't mean to do selfish plugging in your comments)
I've seen a ton of those button headbands but this is much more my style, the headbands are a too over done for me.
aranumenwen about 1 year ago
A tutorial would be nice. I'd love to know if you made the spines on your own out of clay or something, or a mold? Or if they were just a randomly great find as charms or something. And if that's the case where did you find those at? And where there other skeleton parts?
aranumenwen about 1 year ago
Do you use this for jotting down quick notes. Cause I would. Except then I guess you points would wear down weirdly, but I'd imagine they would normally, just from normal wear considering I'm sure you accidentally end up drawing on things anyway.

Thanks, I finally got better pictures of this but have neglected to edit this here post cause I'm kinda lazy. Kinda really lazy.

Which is the only reason this one isn't.
aranumenwen about 1 year ago
@silene6 They're essentially super easy to make and you can find tons of tutorials and patterns online. My absolute favourite site is http://friendship-bracelets.net/
They have TONS of patterns and a pretty decent forum if you need help. Not to mention video, picture, and written tutorials.
aranumenwen about 1 year ago
@Christina Y. I attached two snaps on the ends with using the same kind of technique as I used on the buttons.
@Ellen Stewart. You have to essentially do one button at a time with one continuous length of strand crossing each hole around three times and then wrapping it around the middle twice and then heading onto the next connection bit. Left to right and moving directly below that and then moving right to left repeating that all the way down. It's kinda hard to explain really but the back of it ends up looking pretty terrible. If you've ever checked out the back of cross stitch project, you'll know what I mean.
aranumenwen about 1 year ago
This is great, can't believe I never thought of this one. I do it with pop tabs all the time.

zomg where did you get those cups?!?!?
aranumenwen over 1 year ago
Yeah I make bracelets like that all the time they're super simple and fast. So normally they're made completely of embroidery floss.
And the final look is the selling point really.
aranumenwen over 1 year ago
Is it made of felt? Or just a heart felt gift? ^-^
aranumenwen over 1 year ago
I wish! But from what I hear that one won't work. I have a lot more vodka around my house than I do rubbing alcohol. I think its the concentration of alcohol vs. other ingredients or maybe something during the distilling process.

Those rings are awesome, I've got a couple of buttons that the pin doesn't work anymore or is just plain missing but I love them. I just don't have the heart to to throw them away.
Do you think that you could maybe make a how-to?
aranumenwen over 1 year ago
I totally love these. I saw these online somewhere else, etsy maybe, probably. And the fact that it's a how-to so that I don't have to beg you to make one for it.

BIOSHOCK for the win! I was gonna be a splicer for halloween this year but decided against it, I couldn't figure out the pattern for the dress in time, but your project is definitely on my to-do list for next year.

I just followed the how-to on the original project but instead of beads on the inside I just used a little turtle charm.
Oh and I didn't spray paint it either.

oh my I just realized that's not in english, I apologize but my browser translated it on its own...

http://letsrockit.wordpress.com/2010/07/28/lightbulb-tee/
I made a few variations on it of my own that I don't remember right now off the top of my head...my reading of the tutorial and execution were pretty far off. But essentially that's it.
aranumenwen over 1 year ago
Awww. You never posted your version that you said you would, I'd still love to see it.
aranumenwen over 1 year ago

But that was the best thing I could find, I'd feel bad if I melted something that was for arting.
aranumenwen almost 2 years ago
I've never really had a problem with sleeves really, of course this is only like the second or third shirt that I've made that wasn't short sleeved anyway, I usually just use old shirts as patterns, but this one I winged it, hence the frustration and awkward-ness.
aranumenwen almost 2 years ago
@ Gilly, I got the ring shape by wrapping it around a permanent marker, the big metal kind that smell really bad and squeak when you write with them. After its melted you have about 10 seconds or so, I took the marker and rolled it along, kinda like a rolling pin.
@April- I kinda overlapped mine and they seem to be holding up really well. They're only overlapped them a tiny bit, they still give a little bit but I think it works out better that way. Mine are a little too big for me....I have these tiny hands...Also I'm not sure, and I doubt it, but maybe the clear coat is helping. My first ring I didn't coat and the ink started too smear onto my finger.
aranumenwen almost 2 years ago
Whatever don't hate on your own project, this is awesome, you're giving me ideas...stop it. Organization is not my strong suit. Great timing. Thanks.
aranumenwen almost 2 years ago
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Its a fun time, cept I do feel kinda tarty for the rest of the day, but not in a dessert kinda way.

aranumenwen almost 2 years ago
So I went to this concert...Manson was headlining and but slayer opened for them...weird I know, but the entire day I mean really the entire day people just started yelling SLAYER for no reason and once one person started it a whole bunch joined in. Pretty awesome to see a whole group of shirtless drunk guys yelling slayer so much that they get all red in the face and almost fall down...I love slayer don't get me wrong but if you're 'bout to pass out its time to stop.

Kudos girlie.
aranumenwen about 2 years ago
Yeah, no. I'm sitting here staring at a fork, they don't look like that at all. possibly if you ran it over with a steam roller perhaps. And there are no jump rings in that picture at all.
aranumenwen over 2 years ago
I'm not so great at explaining the process without actually being in person but theres this site
http://friendship-bracelets.net/index.php
Its where I get all my patterns from, its really great, complete with tutorials and videos and things like that.
If you have any other questions about particulars I can try my best to answer them, send me a message, I usually check around here pretty often.
