You have to sew the first cm or so, then grab how much you want to tuck in (i'd say maybe a third cm?), tuck that over the cm you just sewed on and sew into place. then continue, sew another cm normally, grab another 1/3 cm, tuck that over it and sew into place, etc. (:

Oh: How did you get the yarn to stay in place? Tie a knot at the beginning and end of the yarn and make sure they meet up? Or did you use glue? If so which kind cause whenever i use glue for fabric it leaks through and gets messy :p
