About
I just graduated high school and will be going to my top-choice college this fall. It’s even more perfect since it’s coldcoldcold where I’m headed, so it’s a great excuse to knit!
I’ve been knitting since forever and teach myself everything. I remember finding a pair of my great-grandmother’s needles in the attic and deciding I wanted to learn. My mom took me to the library, got me a book and some yarn and cast on for me. She showed me how to knit and how to purl and after that, I haven’t really stopped. The habit died down for a bit when I started focusing on school, but a few summers ago I decided I wanted to knit again and taught myself how to use circulars without the help of any aids. Then last Thanksgiving I retaught myself how to crochet. I bought a kids kit at the La Guardia Airport and crocheted an entire scarf and hat set on the plane ride home.
I’m learning to spin as well. There’s something magical about taking the fuzz from an animal and adding a little twist to it. It’s making something out of nothing. And it just so happens that twisted-up fuzz is great to knit with!
I'm also getting back into sewing. I learned about 10 years ago and have done a little sewing each year ever since then. I'd love to be mostly self-sufficient when it comes to clothes and such, since I know what fits me and looks good on me.
