thanks everyone :)
there's not really much to put in the form of tutorial.. the dress was almost improvised :D so I'll just write down what I did in this comment.
1. I took an old strapless bra and a top with straps and I cut them off. I din't even stitched it, I just glued it all around the bra on the inside and cut a little to make it heart shaped. that's all with the top
2. I folded organza fabric in 3 parts, so I got 3 layers of organza, 33 cm each and 3 meters long. I didn't even cut it!
3. I folded it and sew it together that way to make it puffy and almost a skirt.
4. I sew it to a belt I had laying around
5. I sew the edges of organza alreday wearing the skirt! :D I even had to cut it while taking it off! haha
So you can see it was really last minute dress haha! but ssshh.. nobody knew that on the party and I'm sure you couldn't really tell because I got a lot of compliments for it!
oh great you made one for yourself! :D
and it's more complicated then mine, so that's probably why it took you some more time. i just took a red belt to put around my waist so I practically only had to make the skirt :) plus it wasn't the first organza tutu I've done, with some practice it takes you less time.
Anyway, turned out great hope you'll have occasion to wear it soon!
hi :)
yes I'll make tutorial soon (first week of march I hope) and show you how to make the skirt section :) it's really easy
Holly, I do have a short single layer satine as underskirt but onlo so it wouldn't be see through (if u wear black panties under 3 layers of organza they are visible). but the puff effect is only the organza, you just have to gather itall the way round. thet's why i used 3 meters of material on each layer, even though the measurement of this dress in waist is just 60 cm.
sound like fun! i gotta try this technique
and the dress reminds me of one dress I saw in some high fashion tv show where contestants had to make a body-flesh-muscles inspired clothing. well done!
fantastic! i really love it! can you please tell me if the material was elastic itself? and if that worked as a swimsuit. also, hope you had great holiday
OMG! I love you!!! I've been trying to make this top for 2 times and failed! :( Now I will follow your tutorial and, hopefully, this time it will work.
oh wow! it's perfect! however I don't think I'm good enough at these things to do that... please, post a tutorial next time you do such a lovely thing!
This year, I'm dressing up as tribal voodoo shaman!
I've put together some of my african and south-american jewellery, added a custom skirt made of old skirt, some fur and feathers. I also made horns out of dog treats made of pig tails that look like bones and completed the look with warbonnet of feathers sticked to a headband
Candice it's always like that when u look for it - before I got this idea of making clothes from men's tees my boyfriend was always showing me many at second hand, like band tees and stuff, now that I look for it it's all gone!!! ;)
great! i did this thing with my light switch and outlet covers when I was decorating my room beacause I wanted it to be like jungle ;) and it looks great and tooks only few minutes to do
it's great! Last time I went for occasion like that I gave up the idea of fascinator - like you said, there was nothin'g i'd like to put on. Now I wish I made one myself then
