Yeah, it is the signer model. We got it cheap on eBay because some of the adjusting wheels are broken - meaning it's quite hard to adjust. I'm not sure what it would be like if it worked properly, but it seems a little stiff anyway. You should definitely make you own and if you do, can you post a tute? I'd love to make one too.
