About

Life is great! Not much more to say about it than that!

I am 41. I am a Weathergirl, my dream job since I was six. I grew up in Indiana, went to college in Wisconsin, and then joined the U.S. Air Force. I was stationed in: Alexandria, LA (England AFB); Savannah, GA (Hunter AAF and Ft. Stewart); Songtan, South Korea (Osan AB); Fayetteville, NC (Ft. Bragg); and of course, had my training at: San Antonio, TX (Lackland AFB); Rantoul, IL (Chanute AFB); and Biloxi, MS (Keesler AFB). I was a Weather Observer in Louisiana, Georgia, and Korea...and a Weather Forecaster in North Carolina. When I got out of the USAF, I became a Contract Weather Observer with a private sector company. I worked in New York City (Queens, actually) at La Guardia Airport, then transfered across the country to San Francisco International Airport, where I was promoted to Observer in Charge. after a couple of years there, and due to the high cost of living in the Bay Area (in part), I applied for (and was awarded) a job with the National Weather Service, as a Meteorological Technician (forecaster and observer without a degree). The job was located in Valdez, Alaska...and I had no idea where it was! Valdez is actually the best kept secret in Alaska. After 13.5 years, we still love it here and are very happy that we took this opportunity.
