Hey! Yes I did! I just got home from work so I am sorry I didn't reply sooner but no one let me know that it had arrived. Thanks so much - the German flag pin cushion is my favourite I think :). Thanks so much again for doing this first swap with me! I am going to be posting about the swap on my blog shortly so I hope you don't mind that I will be mentioning you in it.. please let me know if that is a problem :)
Thanks again.
Hey Jet!
I have been on holiday for the past couple weeks and just got home (only for one day) we are leaving to my cousin's wedding and then I have to go back t work. TTYL
OMG! I haven't been online in quite some time and I saw your link today .. the plates are super cute! Thanks so much for sharing!
you are right though - $30 is quite a bit... I have some paints for use on dishes although I am not sure if they are only for decorative dishes.... I will have to find out. Of course even a cute mug or glass or something like that with Matryoshka on it would be awesome.
I like your new projects!
Hello Jet!
How have you been doing? I am sorry I didn't write back sooner but things got really hectic the last few days while I was at work. I finally made it home last night (I am so glad to be abck and able to sleep in my own bed again).
I hadn't been on CO+K in such a long time and today when I logged in imagine my surprise and delight when I saw that my tutorial is being featured right now! I am so excited about this I can't even contain myself. At first I thought someone else had done a project similar to mine and then I was like - no... wait a minute .. those are my legs in that picture! LOL. I was very shocked.
I am trying to pack now since we are going to be going on holiday soon. I will try to come online while that is happening but somehow I think I won't be online very much. It is too gorgeous outside right now!!
I hope you are doing well and that everyone has recovered from the terrible loss against the spanish.
Talk to you soon!
Hugs

wow - that would have been horrible to have scaffolding and tarps and whatnot covering the building! How did you manage? I would have gone crazy for sure.
today is the last game for the German team - I hope they will be able to pull off the third place! they really should have one first...
I will be cheering for the Dutch now though.I don't know why, but after the way the Spanish team played (diving and complaining and being unsportsmanlike) I really don't want them to win. Since it is my birthday on Sunday I will use my birthday wish for the Dutch team to win the World Cup. :) LOL. Anyways, there is a free Giveaway on my blog if you want to enter.
I don't have a long break today so i will talk later!

I see, so where you live is basically the same then. Cool - well at least you have some noce scenery! Ya Toronto is pretty big. Not really one of my favourite places though as I find the people are always in a big rush to get nowhere and that they think (in my opinion) perhaps a bit too highly of themselves. There is also the smog... but that is another issue in and of itself.
I prefer the west of Canada myself. People seem to be a lot more chill and I like the mountains.
Here I get the Tundra - which is pretty - but desolate ;)
Anyways, I am leaving to eat some cake to console myself as the Germans lost the soccer game today :(
I will for sure be posting pictures online :)
It will take a while for us to send our stuff though since I am not going to be home for another two weeks. I could send stuff out from here, but the mail seems to be delivered so slow that I am better off sending it from home.
I hope you will be paired up with a partner soon! Yes - then I will be able to participate in other swaps - which will be cool since they have themed ones and stuff :)
Well yes I am a bit fanatical but unfortunately for me the germans were knocked out by Spain. I am quite dissappointed about the result of the game because the German players seemed to be giving up the ball to Spain a lot of the time and they just were not playing offensively. I will try not to rant about it :)
Wow that sounds like the door ordeal is a huge problem - I mean why is it so hard for them to fix it for you? It would make it soooo much easier. I would not want to have to go downstairs from my apartment everytime someone visited me. I live on the 8th floor and it would be super annoying.
Anyways I think I am going to go and have myself some consolation cake as I am still sad that Germany lost the game.
I will talk to you soon!
:)
None of your friends do anything crafty? How horrible :( You should try to get them interested in even something small ... but I guess the online community is thriving enough!
Yes, I find it difficult to find time to blog every day, but I am trying my hardest to sustain it. I guess while I am at work it is sometimes hardest because I am so tired when my shift is finished I just want to go to bed ;)
I have a few Matryoshka dolls (pics on my blog) that I bought from a really talented artist in Russia. I love them so much!
Well I work a fly in/fly out job (I commute to a remote work site to work) so for 6 months of the year I live 300km away from the nearest town or city in a camp. It is not a town and it is in the Northwest Territories in Canada. The other 6 months I spend in Grande Prairie - a city that feels more like a town than a city.
I don't think I have ever been to Virginia (maybe driving through..) but I spent some time in West Virginia. Very nice countryside :)
These dolls are my favourite things in the whole entire world. I love them so much! What a cute project! I can't wait to make some myself! I have a few Matryoshka themed projects on CO+K as How-Tos but I also have more pictures/projects on my blog (if you love them as much as me that is).
;)
Have you found someone to do the swap with you? Sad that there are so many people waiting still. I am super lucky that there was another person from Canada on right away who wanted to swap with me. I thought I would have to wait a long time!
Thanks kat! I am glad you enjoyed the projects I posted. You sure have quite a few on here for being so new to the site! Enthusiasm is great though! I see you are a friend of Jet (me too) and you told her you live in a rural area. Where are you from? I was interested because I find myself "at the end of the earth" for 6 months of the year and it is nice to chat with people who understand ;)
Ciao for now!
I am sure you alrady heard the cheering in the streets but Congratulations! There were a few tense moments during the game but Holland played well and they deserve to have won. I heard the commentator say they hadn't been in the final since 1978! Wow, a long time to wait. Well, the German team is playing tomorrow and I am SOOOO excited about it!
I posted about some really cool crafts I found online at this wonderful woman's blog (with her permission of course) on my blog. I also put a nice photo of myself which I made on facebook with a group that supports the German team. Check it out if you have a chance : hawadaere.blogspot.com
Have a lovely day!
TTYL
Hello! I hope that you are doing better, I am tired from work today but it's not really so bad. :)
It is always funny when people translate proverbs or poems into another language without stopping to think about what it might mean in that language! :) It is the same with any saying though. For instance we say "I'm fed up!" which means we have had enough of something but literally translated it means you have had enough to eat. I am sure it would sound very hilarious in Dutch. lol.
haha, I can see the faces of the germans - wondering what he means. :)
I will have to look into the felting once I am out of camp, I will have quite a bit of time to work on projects as I am taking an extra week off which means 4 weeks holidays! I am really excited because of the trip we are taking with my sister and her husband. Of course I have to find some way to take my computer with me in order to continue posting and talking to people on CO+K.
Oh, I am getting a phone call - so I will have to write you again another time!
I hope everything is fine in your town and that the weather is not too hot (or too rainy).
Ciao for now! :)
These are so wondeful! I have a bunch of zipper tailends from zippers that were way longer than what I needed - now I can use them up :) Thanks so much for the idea.
Jet,
Yes a lot of people were favouring Brazil to win that match. Have you heard the good news? Germany won their match against Argentina today! 4 to 0! I was so excited while I was watching today I could barely stay in my seat. It was a really amazing thing for the German team and they are going to be feeling really good going into the match against Spain on Wednesday. I can hardly wait to watch that one! :)
Of course the Netherlands will be playing against Uruguay on Tuesday - I will be cheering for them too!
Haha - there is a lot of unfair play and people can be really petty out on the pitch. Today Spain played against Paraguay and I wish that Paraguay would have won. The Spaniards were being really petty and taking dives (at least I thought they were). They were yelling at the refs a whole bunch too and just acting very ... Macho I guess. Rude too. Oh well. I am not cheering for Uruguay either because they were being REALLY unsportsmanlink when they were playing against Ghana as well.
Anyways enough about sports.I'm glad you are feeling a bit better today! It is qute hilarious that you and your md were pretty well only talking about art while you were at an appt. LOL. It's nice that she has similar interests though so you can chat about that, it probably makes it less awkward to visit the Dr's Office as well (since some people seem to be afraid of the Doctor for some reason).
For sure if I visit the Netherlands I will find out some of the lesser traveled routes. I don't particularly like the tourist areas as you end up paying more and you don't really see the true culture of the country. You see shops and restaurants that are ctaering to the tourists - not the real atmosphere of the city unfortunately.
It is always nice to visit with famimly - I hope you have a wondeful time with your sister. I'm glad they fixed your doors too!
I had a really busy day today so I am going to try and go to bed a little earlier - ciao ! Have a wonderful weekend!
Also - kannst du bitte etwas sagen wann ich was TOTAL falsches schreibe? Meine Grammatik ist ziemlich schlecht... :)
Danke sehr und Tschuss!
I don't always hve time for a long comment either so don't feel bad :)
Congratulations on your team winning against Brazil in the World Cup! I saw the game this morning and was very happy for them. Brazil is a good team but they have dominated for so long - it is ncie to see that someone else will have a chance. Personally I am cheering for Germany though.
ttyl
I have been checking out the boards lately too and agree that it is nice to meet like minded people. Plus everyone is so friendly! I haven't really seen any mean comments at all, which is nice. Tasmania sounds nice. There are probably not a whole lot of people living there though, what with it being so small and your comment of it being rural makes me think of small towns and rolling hills. I have no idea if that is accurate though! :) I will have to look up some pictures online.
Canada is an amazing place to live. I have moved around a lot and the scenery changes so much from place to place but it is always breathtaking. I do like to travel though and I have never been to the Oceania area.
Thanks for checking out my blog - I'm glad you liked what you saw. I try my best to post on it everyday, but sometimes I get too busy.
Ttyl. :)
Hallo Anke! Ich habe einen Post bei dem Board gesehen wo du gesagt hast dass du gerne mit Deutsch uben helfen wird. Ich hoffe dass wir miteinander unterhalten kann weil ich moechte meine Deutsch nicht verlernen. Danke sehr!
These are fantastic! When I first read the description I wasn't sure what they would look like but they are super awesome! I really want to make these now. :)
Thanks so much Zina! I am glad you liked my projects. I am very intrigued by the fact that you are from Tasmania as I have never met anyone from there before. Isn't it awesome that all of us artsy/crafty people from all over the world can meet up on Cut Out+Keep?
Anytime! The little monsters are so cute! I am thinking that I may hve to buy one for myself, but since it is so close to my birthday I better wait (maybe...) to buy myself anything new. It almost reminds me of a baby hippo/monster. Very cute idea.
I also saw your sister's Etsy and they have some nice items. The crochet earrings are very nice. you will have to tell her for me since I don't know if she is on Cut Out+Keep.
Hello Jet!
I hope that your cisit to the doctor went well. I am sorry to hear that your feet are giving you troubles.
I agree that too many people are focused on the negative things that happen in their life. It is much better to be happy and laugh and try to enjoy the time we have been given than to complain about everything that happens to us. You have a very positive attitude it seems!
7 years seem like a long time to have to wait to move into a new place! It is too bad that they mixed things up and you had to get a lawyer. What a pain. I would love to visit Amsterdam one day - I have only ever been to the airport there :)
Maybe some day I will make it. for nbow myself and my husband are saving our money to buy our first house. I love to travel though and it has been a long time since we were last on a vacation overseas.
I am glad that you enjoyed my blog! I think it is far from professional but I have a fun time writing on it and posting pictures and projects. It is a good way to express creativity. I am really glad I started being mroe active on Cut Out+Keep, there are so many nice people here!
I think I will maybe take out some books at the library on felting or look at some items/tutorials people have on the internet.
Your English is great! But I know how you were feeling because I speak German but I am sometimes aprehensive to post on websites because I know that my grammar is really poor. I guess it will get better with time :)
I would love to see pictures of your project with the lids, maybe there is someone in your building who could upload it for you? Or is it a problem with the computer? It would be fun to see how you decide to do it.
Yes, while I am at work I stay here. I live about 1300km away from here. First I fly from my home town to Edmonton (the capital of the province of Alberta) then I fly to Yellowknife (the capital of the NorthWest Territories a Territory in Canada)and then I fly another 300km to the Diamond Mine. I stay here for three weeks at a time and then I fly back home again for three weeks off.
It can be tiring at times but I am used to it now. I only mind when it is really cold in the winter or when it is warm at home but cold here. then I feel like I am missing out on the ncie weather :)
Talk to you soon!
:)
I love that you linked to your blog in your user name. Even funnier. By the way - are you the one knitting all of the mitts on the website? I don't read Finnish so I wasn't too sure...They are gorgeous to die for! I hope you are selling them somewhere on the internet....
What is a Barbie Group? That sounds like it could be interesting. I found a few awesome vintage patterns for dolls and have been (slowly) making some of them. I have a couple dolls from garage sales (my "models") who are beat up so I may take your advice and give them makeovers.
Haha, I don't mind long comments! It's nice to hear from a fellow crafter. I agree that it is really cool to meet people from so many different countries here online who like the same things. It is only too bad that the site is only in English since that excludes a lot of people who can't speak it.
Wow it sounds like you have a lot of experience with felting! To be honest I have never tried it before but would really like to. At the moment I am out at work (I work at a Diamond Mine and have to fly to work) so I won't be home for a while. Once I do get home though I would be really interested in trying out this technique. I have seen some really lovely projects on Cut Out+Keep using felting methods.
I think that it is a good idea for people to recycle and reuse and try to save money even if it is not a bad economy. Luckily the bad economy has forced many people to be more thrifty and I think this is a good thing. Like you say, it is also better for the environment :).
I try to reuse fabric in my projects and upcycle or reuse old things to make new things. Two of the projects I have posted here were made from old pairs of pants that my Mum and sister gave to me. They know that I will always try to recycle any clothing and make something new.
Funny thing is that my sister gave me a pair of pants and I made it into a Rosette pillow and gave them back to her! :)
Hopefully now I haven't written too long of a post :).
I checked out your website and you have some good drawings. I don't speak dutch though so I am not sure what most of it means. Nice work though!
Ciao for now,
Lydia
That is a really good one too!I like the stuff that appears in nursery rhymes and Dr Seuss a lot as well as the tongue twisters. They are a lot of fun to say and some of the themes are simply ridiculous.
These are absolutely amazing! You did such a good job on the details. I totally want to make a cake now.
A couple years ago I made halloween costumes for my husband and our friend and we went as Toad, Mario and Luigi - I would have loved to have had these for an afterparty cake.
Thanks for adding me! I know what you mean about trying to get everything done outside for the summer. I have lots of projects waiting to be done but for now it is raining and I am working... I hope the weather will clear up soon!
I would love to learn how to felt things - it looks like so much fun!
You have some really cute projects on here, it is always so nice to meet other creative people!
Sammie - With regards to Rosette Pillow :I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your comment! I will attempt to explain the process better.
With each of the fabric circles you need to hand sew a circle of large loose stitches in the centre. These are then pulled together to gather the fabric into a "rose" type shape. Then you know it to keep it from undoing. You will end up with a kind of "tail" piece sticking out of the bottom of the rosette. The smaller piece tucks into the larger with this "tail" and then the larger into the largest. As you tuck the tails in you need to be sewing the smaller piece to the larger one to keep it from coming apart. Once all three pieces are sewn together you sew it to the pillow.
Please let me know if this helped you! :)

Sure some of them do, but the point is that the paper was used more than once. I encourage my family members to reuse the paper as it is really such a HUGE waste. And I never buy new paper. I save whatever my own presents come in and it has grown to quite a stash.
To me, there is no sense in wasting anymore than we already do. Thanks for the interest! :)
The creative person who inspires me would have to be my grandmother. Although she has since passed on she continues to inspire me to strive to be more and more creative and be true to myself in this endeavor.
My grandma painted everything, murals, paintings, scenes on antlers, even the rock doorstop in her home had a painting of mountains and trees on it. She loved music and creating; everytime we saw her it was a new creative adventure. I have one of her paintings in my dining room and whenever I see it I am inspired to uphold my families traditon of craetivity. I only hope that I am making my grandma proud!

Jet,

Jet,
Yes a lot of people were favouring Brazil to win that match.

Congratulations on your team winning against Brazil in the World Cup! I saw the game this morning and was very happy for them. Brazil is a good team but they have dominated for so long - it is ncie to see that someone else will have a chance. Personally I am cheering for Germany though.

:)

Ciao for now,
Lydia

I tend to agree with you EVEnl. Also, perhaps I will do a related tutorial then on how to do box corners, would it be helpful?
