About

HEY. THIS IS ME. PLEASED TO MEET YOU.

Pastel haired, eccentric, cat hoarder and almost-wife. I'm passionate about Crochet : Crafts : Bohemian Living : Narrowboats : Fashion : Thrifting.

Mr B and I are young at heart 30-somethings with a long standing dream to live off the grid and embrace our free spirited wanderlust to the full while we can.

As an art graduate, this crochet addict used to wake every day longing to be freed from the soul-sucking darkness and prison of grey/blue/death coloured walls and office furniture that is a place somewhere between accounting and data entry... which without me noticing had become my 'career'. One day I said no more.

Always fans of thrifting, self-sufficiency and living a little outside the box, this year we took the plunge and packed up our 3 storey town-house and 7 cats to squish ourselves into the 2 attic rooms of my Mum's 5 bed Victorian terrace (which also houses our beloved Nana Peggilini) whilst saving up for our dream home... a 57 foot plus bohemian, eco-friendly, compact living wet-dream of a Narrowboat. I'm still not sure if we are brave or crazy. Follow our journey and my DIY designs and dramas on my blog by subscribing by RSS or email.

My Peggilini, a trained London seamstress with over 75 years experience first introduced me to the fibre arts practically as soon as I could coordinate two hands (so like 5 years ago... j/k) but it's only recently that I picked up a crochet hook and found my niche. It frees my mind from the devils that Depression and Mental Illness can bring and provides the perfect creative outlet - there are no limitations, it can be fast or slow, intricate or simple. Just one hook, one ball of yarn and the sky's the limit.

As far as my influences go, I just adore mismatched bright colours, quirky kitsch collectiana, beautiful shiny metallics, free-spirited carefree Bohemian & upcycled treasures. They make my heart beat faster and my eyes twinkle. I get passionately inspired by all kinds of bold Mexicana, Mid-Western Wanderlust and Gypsy Soul styling.

We used to fill our weekends with yarn and fibre arts, thrifting, painting, crafting and art, upcycling and repurposing... and gradually our home too, until forced to start sharing this love of creativity and vintage upcycled treasure with friends and family. I ended up filling their homes too.

If like me you are a free-spiritied soul trying to find your way to your own personal little utopia, I'd love for you to come get in touch and share your experiences on social media. My platform of choice is Instagram where I can be found at @setfreemygypsys0ul, but you can find us on Pinterest, Twitter, Weheartit, Bloglovin' and Facebook so don't be shy, come join the movement.
