Wish I had this when I was reading Wicked!! Great!
Thanks Abby. It is amazing what one can do when they start listening to instinct. :D
Way cool! Great job!
great job!! LOVE the design!
welcome! thanks for the fave!
No problem. Olive oil is an amazing thing. There are a few more but at the moment I can't remember them.
Love the cocoa powder and olive oil. Works wonders. And using baking soda as an exfoliating scrub with the olive oil makes your skin so soft it is amazing!!
great list. here is something to add, grind up some oatmeal to a powder, take two or three tablespoons add equal amount of olive oil. use as a scrub for your face. make more for a body scrub.
or add a table spoon or two of cocoa powder with the same amount of olive oil, use it as a scrub, but before you rinse, just let it sit on your face.
you can do the same with baking soda.
and the list goes on and on.
Miss Cupcake, What an AWESOME idea!! Oh, and you gave me one. Now let's see if i can make it work!!
Pepperette - I use it to cover the cakes, but I make my fondant from scratch. I won't use the pre package stuff, although satin ice does taste ok, it is too expensive.
I add flavoring depending on the cake it is covering. The Lightening McQueen was raspberry.
I don't like fondant, but everyone who has tasted the fondant I make like it. They say to them it tastes just like frosting, or candy.
Sweet - Fondant is a pliable type of icing you can roll out and cover a cake, or use it to mold different items. But to use it like clay it can't be too soft.
Covering a cake, you get a perfectly smooth (as long as you take care covering it) canvas to work on.
very nice. i really like it! gives me an idea for an apple spice cake. :D
I am so honored Lydia. My skills aren't what they used to be, been trying to get them to improve.
Thank you Helen! and you are welcome!
Helen, thank you for the complement.
You have some excellent crafting ideas, and I love the poem in your profile.
Maybe that is why I have insomnia! LOL!!
no kevin is a young man i work with. :D
well one thing i can say for sure, in any of the cakes i have made you can eat 99% of it.
the 1% is the dowel rods and separators. no wood or anything else.
duff has his style, which is cool, but not my style.
mine is evolving.
thank you. i am going to try prepping it so it can be painted with a design. may make them more interesting, but they go well with jeans.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the compliments.
now that is a swim suit i'd make and wear, please a how to, please please please?
wow, i do need to get here more like i used to.
i trim them down with those fancy scrap book shears.
Jelly Jam, thank you. You can do them. They really are not that hard to do. It takes a little bit of patience.
Sheila, some day I will make it there. I am not sure if this makes sense to anyone, but it calls to me. That is the easiest way to put it.
Every since I was little, kept telling my folks there is a ring of giant stone I want to touch.
The Summer Solstice, a favorite day for me.
wow, i need to keep track of my email more.
i use regular acrylic paint. once my ornaments are cleaned out, i use a little bleach on the inside and then rinse thoroughly.
i had a brainstorm and used automatic dish washer detergent, since it doesn't leave drip marks. well, whatever helpst the waterspots stay gone, doesn't let the paint adhere.
the key is to make sure the interior is clean, rinsed, and totally dry.
i had a few that the paint peeled from, but i was a bit over zealous with the paint, and it didn't dry.
after they sit upside down for at least three or four days, i put them in a carton and leave the top off for week or two. longer doesn't hut. it allows the paint to dry.
the key is leaving that little top off for more air flow.
reminds me of a small version of Stonehenge. i'd love to visit a folly or Stonehenge someday.
if the stones could speak, what stories of history would we hear?
i sent a pic to a friend i work with via cell, she text back, did you kill the baby?
but someone else gave me a great idea, but some butterscotch color butter cream frosting in the diaper. but i'd have to make sure the person having the shower has a sense of humor.
i can hear it now, "Would you like that diaper loaded or unloaded?"
thank you!! but you can do those cakes. they are all really easy. some may take a bit of time, but easy. the simplest one is the grooms cake.
bake a cake, frost it, put the rolled cookies around it, dip strawberries, and it is done!!
maybe i should do a how to for making formal strawberries.
this is just freaking awesome!!!
this just freaking rocks!! love it, and doctor who too!
oh you are most welcome, now all i need to do is find time to make them, and all my other projects! i have a wonderful collection of unusual beads, ya know the kind that inspire. unfortunately, i have an over abundance of inspiration, and a shortage of time.
good idea for vday.
thanks for all the nice comments and faves!
this is a great idea.
if you read the beginning it gives you the link to the tutorial.
ya think i'd remember how to spell chief. well you see what title ranks high in my world. :D
thanks, and it is very easy. anyone can do it. that is the beauty of it.
they are yummy, and the jack daniels taste really good after about a week.
the hardest thing to do is let them sit and age.
it is really very easy. the hardest part is rolling out the chocolate modeling "clay" anyone can do it.
maybe the next time i do one i'll do a how to.
tara, i work with a bunch of them.
it really is very, very easy.
is he retiring or at the end of his hitch?
THAT IS JUST FREAKING AWESOME!!! back in cleveland there was a tv station for some strange reason would run a star trek marathon on christmas eve or a week before christmas, people would send in votes for their favorite episodes.
if it was on christmas eve, we'd be getting things ready for christmas, preping for the meal and fine tuning the cleanning while watching/listening to it.
if it was the week before christmas i'd bake and make candy watching it on a small tv in the kitchen.
on year they played it on christmas, and we had a house full of people, and of course, being the trekker i am, it was on. we played name that episode. you had to name it during the tease. of course i won. :D
thanks for bringing back some really great memories for me.
Live Long and Prosper!
very nice. another type to add to the tree this year!!
i see a loom in my future. :D
how many nails nails did you use across the top? they look like they are fairly close together.
what is the size frame you use, and the distance in-between nails?
forget for a guy, it is for me!! :D
thanks everyone! just make sure when you do them you don't over to the paint, the more paint you use the long it takes to dry.
you don't want your gifts to leak all over the place. :D
one of these days i will remember to check the comments area.
you are all very welcome, now i need to find the time to do each and everyone of the projects. :D
and thank you to all who have faved my work.
greeneyes0991, and they are so simple to make too. thanks.
thanks for the fave. and i love your list of things you learned. too bad more of humanity doesn't learn and understand that list!
thank you. i really love the beach one. the frame really suits it. it hangs in the creative room.
love it. gave me more ideas!! oh no!! i must go craft supply shopping and bargain hunting now!! XD
every time i look at your avatar, i want to put a piece of grapefruit, pear, banana, and a bit of yogurt in the food processor and slather it all over my face, and paint my nails.
thanks for the fave!
beautiful! i am inspired to try it. :D, tho i killed my pressure cooker. :-(
KT, it is basically this one:
i just used torn pieces of hand made paper on the first picture, followed the same basic idea as in the tutorial.
have fun! but i can do one for the hand made paper one if you would really like one.
thanks for the fave!!
i so freaking LOVE this!!! i adore dragons, and a friend of mine collects them. hmm, maybe i'll put knitting on the list of things to do. maybe XD
cool!! post pics!! i wanna see!
no problem, i like it! i was beginning to think i am the only one from Va, on a UK website.
seems like many things i like or love are in the UK! :S
go to a second hand store and buy some of the old nasty looking glass ornament, then just turn them into clear ones by doing this http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/old_glass_ornaments_in_to_clear_blank_slates_
much cheaper than purchasing new clear ones.
you are so freaking talented!! you should give lessons! i so wish i could have you do the leopard body paint for me next year when i go to a con. but i don't think it will last the drive to ohio, and a night sleeping in bed. XD
you so rock!
so freaking cool. i'd love to have that painted on my face for halloween for work! i can see the MP's at the gate when i pull up and hand them my id!!
that would be so worth it!!
love it. beautiful!!!
you probably could do this on a plastic shade. but you would need to do a bit of prep work first, like sand the area where the paint will be with an extra fine sandpaper or 00000 steel wool.
the reason being is that the acrylic paint will peel off the plastic. it will peel off glass too, but since the pain is on the inside of these, you won't run into the problemm of it chipping and then peeling.
you have me thinking on another idea now XD thanks!!!
thanks for the compliments! i am rather proud of it. maybe i should have been a sculpture. XD
i found that adding just a bit of raspberry flavoring to the fondant makes it yummy. the second one i did for a friend's son had it in the fondant, she said he was in love with the fondant, kept trying to get it off off everyone who had cake.
and the adults who didn't like fondant liked the marshmallow fondant.
:D it is suppose to look used and abused, just like they do when played with. glad it looks the way it is suppose to!! :D
this is great!! i never thought of doing this! thanks!!
thanks. i'm not so sure some people appreciate the black Christmas items, but in my world they work.
you were named after a ferret? must have been one special fuzz butt.
what does poof have to do with a ferret. hmm, well ferrets have anal glands, like a dog does, and a skunk, when frightened or mad they express them, fortunately they are like a really nasty fart and go away. most ferrets in the US are descented.
people from all walks of life own ferrets.
thanks for all the complements! i leave them upside down on a drying rack i made from an old wire shelf, under the rack i have sheets of wax paper, or a garbage bag so i can collect the drips, which are really pretty, i'm going to figure something to do with them, for now they are filling up a jar.
So far my favorite one this year is a black, white and red one, the red almost looks like a bleeding heart.
yeah, not real Christmas type of thing, but i've never been "normal" one of the trees i put up at Christmas is black. XD
OMG! this is so cool! i can see salt shakers full of colored salt! and a putrid color one for halloween!
this is an OUTSTANDING idea!!
thanks for the fav!
that is really cute!! nice job!
this is just freaking awesome!!! now i know what i can do with my capital one cards. :) (well, you can change the picture once a month)
yes, and adding your favorite flavor helps too. you just have to remember not to add a flavor that will clash with your cake.
this was left over fondant from lightning mcqueen, it smelled just like raspberries.
and the mom told me that her son who doesn't eat frosting was going to everyone and pulling the fondant off their piece and eating it.
that is so great!! love love love it!!
have to ask, are you a ferret owner? the reason being is the "POOF".
love the magazine project!!
ah, a very heart warming/breaking, rewarding thing to do. sure no problem. i also did rehab and release of wild mink, and various others that crossed my path.
