When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?

Steph - I was 14 when my mom refused to cook for me anymore due to being a real picky eater. My mom did however make a big pot of brown rice and either black or pinto beans. I would mix the rice and beans with cheese, sour cream, carrots, frozen peas and corn. I served it on top of toast. Sounds kinda gross but I loved it!

Ang - I was 14 years old and I found a Gourmet Magazine with a chicken cordon blue recipe. My mother bought all the ingredients and it took me 3 hours to make but it turned out great!

What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?

Steph - I have a fairly small kitchen so I like to clean as I go and I always keep a bowl on the counter to throw all my scraps in.

Ang - My kitchen is very small but I make it efficient. I am a messy cook but a magic multi tasker so it works out.

What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?

Steph - Watch cooking shows and start with something easy like a pesto or salad dressing.

Ang - Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?

Steph - I would invite Anthony Bourdain, Gwen Stefani, Jacques Pepin, Eric Ripert and Jose Andres. Although I would be terrified to cook for them, haha!
I would make my Roasted Poblano Falafel with Jalapeño Tahini dressing and Roasted Poblano Jalapeño Hummus with pita chips. Then I would pray they like spicy food!

Ang - Anthony Bourdain, Oprah Winfrey, and Gwen Stefani. I’d make a Classic Negroni cocktail for Anthony and some white ginger pear tea for Gwen and Oprah. I’m sure the stories at the dinner table would fly!

Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?

Steph - I have had so many hobbies throughout my life. I love faux finishing, watercolor and pastel painting, making my own skincare, jewelry making, gardening (although I have no garden except a million potted succulents) and I have dabbled in glassblowing, paper making and candle making.

Ang - I enjoy painting, I usually use acrylic. I love gardening but I live in a can do so my potted herbs are my garden. I also love to hike and take bike rides.

Which cooking blogs do you love to read?

Steph - Drizzle and Dip, Circa Happy and Hortus Cuisine, Adventures in Cooking to name a few.

Ang - Circa Happy, I love Pang’s creativity and spectacular photos! The Forest Feast is also an eye pleaser.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Steph - Do what inspires you and never stop growing and learning new things!

Ang - Follow your dreams even if they seem far away. The law of attraction has the power to make dreams come true!
