Yes you can cover a guitar!
I laid the guitars on the fake fur and traced around them. I had just received some art work and it had large pieces of packing foam inside the box. I knew right away that this would be perfect backing for the guitars. I used white tissue paper to trace the pattern of the actual guitars. I need this to get a pattern for the foam. I made the foam in the shape of the ZZ Top guitars and bigger than the actual guitar. Then I cut two pieces of the fake fur two inches bigger than the foam and sewed the two pieces together. I used the elastic and drawstring combo for around the fret. The holes for the knobs are big buttons holes. And the tuning peg covers are faux fur circles hand stitched gathered. Very fun to make!
