  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Tie a peice of material to something like a chair leg.
Take 3 lengths of yarn, double it over the material to make a loop and braid the yarn neatly and tightly untill there is an in left. Wrap one of the strand at the bottom around the braid and tie off.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Get 4+(depending on how thick you want the end result to be) Strand of wool that are about 2 and a half times the length of the braid and the same color and thread through the loop at the top. Hold an inch of the yarn tightly againd the braid and begin to wrap the longer bit of yarn around it till it is secure.

( I am using a diffrent color so you can see)

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Continue to wrap the yarn down the length of the braid. tying off as before in aproximatly the same spot ( I like to use a scout knot)

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Taking a strong bristled brush ( an unused dog brush is ideal) Carefully back come the whole lenght of the wrap making sure to get all sides making it fluffy all over.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Taking a hot hair straightener smooth down all the sides of the dreadlock from top to bottom. This should hide the little gaps to make it look less like yarn. You can now cut off any excess yarn strands.

    [repeat steps 1 through 5 - 39 times]

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Spray with an exra hold hairspray and allow to dry.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

One dry thread elatic thru the top loops and tie off so you have a ring of dread locks.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

Tie your hair in a bun as High as you can get it. (I had very short hair at the time this was taken)
Slip the elastic ring of dreads you have made over the bun and use bobbie pins to hold in place.
wrap a scarf or ribbon around the base so that yo can not see the loops of yarn or where har and yarn seperate.

This can also be done in pigtale form.

I used to make these, but I found they still didn't compare to roving or synth dreads. I LOVE making the roving ones, but roving over here is hard to get and expensive :(
