Description

Yarn art is one my favorite crafts and it's a great way to use scrap yarns! Don't know much about yarn craft? Don\t worry, here's a tutorial for beginners to get started with yarn art. I hope it's helpful and fun!

Instructions

  1. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122508 20131023 154957

Draw some basic shapes on a paper with a pencil. I drew circle, square, triangle, oval, arch shape, tear drop, leaf shape, heart and a random shape like amoeba.

  2. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122514 gluing

Use a cotton swab to apply glue on the shape. Keep glue inside the traced lines. Apply a small amount of glue on the shape instead of applying glue on the yarn.

  3. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122519 basic%2b 284 29

For the circle start gluing the yarn from the center. Slowly and carefully spiral the yarn around to from the circle. When you reach the required size of the circle cut off yarn and press the whole pattern with your finger.

  4. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122527 basic%2b 287 29

To make the oval shape start by gluing the yarn vertically along the center line and then glue yarn around that line. Keep gluing towards the outer edge and when you'll reach the edge cut off yarn and you're done!

  5. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122536 basic%2b 281 29

Cut 3 pieces of yarn according to the triangles base and sides. Glue the base and sides separately. Now take the yarn bundle and glue yarn to fill the inside of the triangle.

  6. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122541 picmonkey%2bcollage

To make the tear drop pattern start by gluing the outer edge first. Start from the pointy part, glue all around the edge and bring it back to the starting point. Now carefully keep gluing the yarn inside towards the center. When you'll reach the center you can simply cut off the yarn from the bundle.

  7. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122547 basic%2b 288 29

The triangle and square are almost the same. Cut 4 pieces of yarn for the 4 sides of the square, glue them separately. And then fill the inside like we did for the triangle.

  8. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122552 basic%2b 286 29

For the leaf shape you will need 2 pieces of yarn first for both sides (traced line). Glue the sides first and then use the yarn to fill the center by simply gluing from the outside towards the inside.

  9. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122558 basic%2b 285 29

The yarn art of heart shape is like the leaf shape. Measure and cut 2 pieces for the sides, glue them and then glue yarn to fill the inside.

  10. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122603 basic%2b 283 29

For the arch shape glue the base first by using a single yarn piece. Then glue the rest as you wish.

  11. Small 106682 2f2015 01 08 122607 basic%2b 282 29

Random shape is easier for yarn art. Start from any side you want (center or outer edge). Most importantly don't forget to press the yarn after gluing it. Enjoy!
