1. Step 1

    Step 1

Take a sweet or gum wrapper.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Fold the wrapper in half, width ways, and then unfold it again.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Fold the edges in, so that they meet in the middle.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Fold the wrapper in half again, with the edges tucked in, width ways and then unfold.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Repeat the previous steps and fold the edges in to the middle, width ways.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Fold it in half length ways to create a crease in the middle.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Now fold the edges in, length ways, so that they meet at the crease in the middle.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

You should now have a little V shape.

  9. Step 9

    Step 9

    Make a few of these.

  10. Step 10

    Step 10

Slip the two feet of the V through the holes in another V's legs.

  11. Step 11

    Step 11

Take a third V and continue this along.

  12. Step 12

    Step 12

Continue this with more and more folded wrappers, keep an eye on the pattern that is being formed so that you know which side to place the next folded wrapper in at.

  13. Step 13

    Step 13

Make a strip long enough to fit around your wrist, you could make it really big and then you could simply wear it like a bangle.

  14. Step 14

    Step 14

Pierce holes through the folded wrappers at both ends of the strip.

  15. Step 15

    Step 15

Slip a jump ring and jewellery clasp through one end.

  16. Step 16

    Step 16

Slip two more jump rings through the other end and you're done.

This is totally awesome! I'm going to make a bunch for my school now because halloween was last week and I'm sure a bunch of my friends are throwing away candy wrappers. I'll tell them "NO! ALL YOUR WRAPPERS ARE BELONG TO ME!" and they'll look at me funny, while giving me wrappers, and i'll make a ton of these little buddies and give them back and they'll be all "wtf, is this my candy wrappers?" And i'll say. Si it is!

I just wanted to say thank you for this website! I have been trying to learn how to make starburst bracelets for what seems like forever! I am 22 and my niece is almost 6. She loves crafts so I thought this would be a fun idea to wear, learn to make, work together in doing, and also teach her that it is good to recycle! Thank you for all of the help!!!

Kristina

Mar 7, 2007 8:35pm ago

I didnt get that at all.
1.) Sweetie wrapper? STARBURST. Who says sweetie?
2.) That step didnt match the picture. Length ways? What is that?
3.) It looks like you just unfloded it, did you? If you did, thats not in the step. Which way do I fold it? Huh?
4.)Im too lazy to complain. All I have to say is, this is the internet. You have to be VERY specific. That wasnt . That did not help me in any way. The bracelet looks cool though. Im going to look for help ELSEWHERE.
PS what is that? "THIS IS SPAM/THIS ISNT SPAM" WHO WOULD ADMIT TO SPAM?!

Cat Morley

Cat Morley

March 7th, 2007 20:50

1) I say sweetie. 2) Length ways = along the length. 3) There is no "floding" or "unfloding" in this project. 4) Stop complaining then.

Who said that the internet has to be specific? You said it, you're not the internet.

The spam can't tell the difference between the spam / not spam button. Spam can't read.

searching for recycling ideas for my art project I came across this and immediately set off down the shop for starburst, chewits and fruitella. I have now been working on it for the last TWO hours and finally my labour has paid off. This idea is inspired and though progress on my work has ceased it's really brightened my day. there is another way to finish it, as you get to the last desired wrapper take another and fold it hotdog like the others, then in half hamburger then stick the legs into both ends. fold over and dab hot glue onto it, and you are done! hope this helps if you want a bangle bracelet. I started and finished today.

Oh, does this bring back memories! I was a kid in the 50's and 60's and we used to make these out of Juicy Fruit and Double Mint gum wrappers. I was thinking about these just a couple of weeks ago and couldn't remember how to make them. Viola! Here they are! Thanks for having them on your site. You can make these as long as you would like to. We just made them with the wrappers only, nothing else. Thanks for bringing back such an old memory for a kid of the 50's.

Very cool use of starburst papers. I like it!

Check this out: I know a lot of people have wondered how they make those Candy Wrapper Purses in Mexico. I figured it out! I thought that was so cool....and get this...it's actually pretty simple!

It's like no one wants to share the "mystery art" or something. Totally weird. And the thing that gets me is that they charge people like $25 to even all the way up to around $150 for these bags made of "garbage"! Crazy....You could make TONS of them for that kinda money!

Anyway, I just thought I'd share that it's actually pretty simple and fun to make them!

This is great! I have been looking to do this for a while :D
I am trying right now, but I think the starburst wrapers are really small. Are there different sizes? I have a friend who makes them with magazine cut outs.
