First I scored myself a killer motorcycle mechanic's shirt at the thrift store.
-
2
And then I grabbed a dress I had that I liked the way it fit and cut the shirt into a dress shape.

Now I had to get to work salvaging the scraps to make the shoulder straps and ties. Since I was working with a striped shirt and I was being picky about which way the stripes were going this meant I needed to seam rip the collar for one set and the upper back yoke portion of the shirt for the other set.

Now all I had to do was sew it all together.
-
5
I placed the the ties in the side seams and stitched up each side seam.I then sewed the top edge under and then the shoulder straps onto the top edge.
