Entirely wire wrapped.
Following on from my previous button project. I decided to make another button jewellery with yet another twist. I forgot to take pictures. So I can only offer written text sorry, I will try my best to explain.

Hope you like it. Please feel free to ask for clarifications.

  • Step 1

Sort out the buttons you need. The buttons in my pack were not entirely even, that is, some were two holes others had four. But I don't believe in orderliness when it comes to jewellery making anyway.

If you are using different sizes of buttons, you may find yourself making more wraps on one side than the other. Think of it as 'organic' as you really can't do much about it

  • Step 2

Cut a piece of wire, slide a button through one end of the wire pressing and pinching it with your fingers until you have formed a loop.

However, you can use your round pliers.

  • Step 3

Wrap the tail of the wire either with your fingers or with pliers, the number of wraps depends on you. I tend to make between two to four wraps. Slide in a bead, make a loop with the round nose pliers, wrapping directly on the bead to close.

  • Step 4

Trim off excess wire, make sure that there are no bits sticking out, if there are nip with a pair of chain nose pliers. File with jewellery pliers if you are not completely satisfied. The last thing you want is wire scratching your skin or ripping your clothes!!

  • Step 5

To make the connecting links, make a semi closed loop with another button and slide through the first unit , then wrap the wire.

  • Step 6

Repeat the previous steps alternating buttons and beads until you have your desired length of necklace.

And you are done! You can make bracelets and earrings with this technique.
