Jewel-encrusted statement necklaces have been all over the runways for a couple seasons now. I chose to make two: one black, one white - one for when I'm feeling a little saintly, and one for when I'm feeling a little bad.
-
1
Cut a piece of felt about 7.75" wide by 4.5" deep in a U shape (width of the felt is about 1.5").
-
2
Stitch ends of ribbon onto right side of felt, either by hand or by machine.
-
3
Mark placement of buttons.
-
4
Cut iron-on rhinestone piece to shape and note placement of buttons.
-
5
Remove the rhinestones from where the button areas.
-
6
Iron on front. Use scraps of iron-on rhinestone piece and add more rhinestones to the felt until you have used everything up.
-
7
-
8
Embellish remaining spaces on the felt with more stick-on pearls (by anchoring in felt glue), sequins, and by sewing on pearls until the whole neckpiece is covered. (angel8.jpg)
-
9
(Tip: I outlined the buttons in tiny pearls first, then filled in the middle. The closer together your embellishments are - and the more of them you add - the more expensive and glamorous the piece looks. Barney's, here you come!)
-
10
Cut chiffon ribbon in half, tie around neck, and add a bit of glam to any angelic getup.
