Get ready to wow everyone at your next baby shower!
This watermelon baby carriage looks so festive and cute, yet it is surprisingly simple to make. The melon portion can be done the night before your event and refrigerated. I suggest prepping the rest of the fruit the morning of so it doesn't dry out or get mushy.

  • How to make a fruit salad. Watermelon Baby Carriage - Step 1
    Step 1

This was a smallish round watermelon, so I cut a wedge from the top center down to the middle and across. See what looks best for your particular size and shape watermelon. Keep the part you remove - you will be using this for your handle later.

If your melon does not have a flat spot on the bottom to rest on, slice a thin layer off so it stays put - being careful not to cut into the red part.

If you would like melon balls in your salad instead of chunks, use your melon baller now to remove the watermelon flesh. Then use the baller or a spoon to scrape out the rest of the watermelon so it's even all around with a layer of red melon still attached for color.
Do the same to the removed piece of melon.

I drew a scalloped edge on the hood part of the "baby carriage" with a dry erase marker (it wipes off more easily than sharpie) and used a thin knife to cut along the lines. (A thin knife cuts smooth curves much more easily than a thick or surated one)

Draw your handle like so and cut it out very carefully, inside portion first.

Attach using toothpicks. Use scissors to snip off any excess toothpick so that they are flush with the melon.

Using the same toothpick technique, attach orange slice wheels with grapes in the center.
