1: Knit two _huge_ socks
2: Wash in very hot water (in machine) to shrink them
3: (optional) Add anti-slip material
4: Ta-da! A super warm and durable pair of slippers!
Update 25.01.09: finally managed to upload a picture of an unfelted sock and a finished one for size comparison!

Did you use wool yarn?

opposites-girl: the knitting is surprisingly simple. There is little need for a perfectly shaped sock, because it can be stretched and shaped while wet. Give it a try! ;)
Pumpernickel Babe: Yes, it is important to use 100% wool yarn or they will not shrink properly.
And to all of you: Thanks! :)

can you crochet the socks?

I'm sure that would work! You won't see the actual stiches anyway, whether you knit or crochet, because of the felting process. So just do whatever you feel most comfortable with.

so cute~! anyway, how large should the un-felted socks be? is there any ratio or something?
(sorry - bad english...)

As a rule of thumb, knit them about 20-30% bigger. If they come out of your washing machine too small, stretch them to fit (while wet). If they are too large, wash again! All yarns and washing machines felt differently.
Also- I've finally managed to upload a picture for comparison! No idea what the problem was the first time... ;)
