Vintage Paper & Pen Holder

  • Completed Project: Vintage Paper & Pen Holder Picture #1

Picture frame turned Pen & Paper Holder

I had this picture frame laying around for at least 5 years. So this was about time.
This How-to does not include the decorations. So before gluing everything together, it might be easier to paint and decorate the parts separately.
I added a vintage picture to the background, painted the frame and added a fringe of black lace.
I have kept the original hook on the backing, so it can be hung up.
Hope this isn't too confusing, if yes, let me know, I'll explain the best I can!

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

    Deconstruct your picture frame.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

To create the depth, glue 4 chopsticks to the front side of the frame, like in the picture.
The "foot" of the frame hasn't been glued yet, but that's how it will look like.
    (this is the backside)

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Now glue the backing on top of the chop sticks. You now have a background.
Glue the "foot" at the bottom, so that a pocket is formed.

Thanks!
You're right! I think using 2 contrasting colors created that effect. It looks very dramatic! :)
