The mask is knitted from the centre out towards the edge and will be completed within 30 minutes. The finishing off will take slightly longer, but it’s worth it.

  2. Step 2 2

    assembly
Weave in loose ends, then block and press fabric.
Using template, cut out mask shape from thick cardboard.
Next, cut out mask shape in black felt approx. 1.5 cm (? in) wider than cardboard.
Place cardboard on felt fabric and draw around the outer and inner edge of eyes with tailor’s chalk.
Next, using sharp scissors, snip in towards the chalk line at approx. 1 cm (? in) intervals around the outer edge, then repeat this process for the ?inner eyes.
These tabs will fold over the cardboard and allow the felt fabric to fit the shape snugly.
Next, run pieces of double-sided sticky tape around the eyes and outer edge, then place cardboard with sticky side up on top of the felt fabric, fold the tabs over and press firmly down onto the sticky tape.
Next, place the WS of knitted piece down onto the cardboard so it covers the tabs.
Next, using sharp sewing needle and thread, sew around the outer edge of mask and then sew around the eyes.
Sew the trim to the front knitted part of the mask.
Then, on the inside section of the mask, knot one end of the elastic and thread through into position, bring it around the back of mask and through the other side to match. Knot the elastic, making sure mask will sit snugly on head.
