Faux laminate your old b-day and holiday cards to make pretty, inexpensive bookmarks.

I have a tendency to keep all of the cards people give me for birthdays, holidays, etc. I guess I'm just sentimental :) But all they do is take up space, so I decided it was time to make myself get rid of them, but some were just so pretty... So I cut them up and made them into bookmarks and "laminated" them so they don't get all grubby.

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

First pick out your card. This one is made with paper that is pretty all the way through, instead of just the front cover.

  2. Step 2 2

Cut two strips off, making sure they are about 1/2 an inch less wide than your packing tape. One will be your front, one the back.

  3. Step 3 3

Cover One piece with shipping tape. Make sure there is tape hanging off of each edge.

  4. Step 4 4

Do the same for the other strip.

  5. Step 5 5

Very carefully line up the two strips (better than in this picture lol) with the sticky sides in.

  6. Step 6 6

Once you have them lined up, press them together. Press the tape together.

  7. Step 7 7

Lay them on a flat surface and use something like a credit card, or the nonsharp side of scissors to rub the tape together and remove any air bubbles.

  8. Step 8 8

Trim off the excess tape, and you're done :) Its alot cheaper than buying a laminating machine, or even some book marks, and you can keep a piece of your memories (lol sorry for the corny-ness)
