A scented heart for your tree or your drawers!

This is a great Christmas tree ornament and it's filled with spices, so smells like Christmas. You can use it to keep your drawers smelling nice for the rest of the year.

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

Cut out your blue heart using the template.

  2. Step 2 2

Draw around the blue heart on to red felt, leaving a little margin around the edges.

  3. Step 3 3

Cut out the two cross templates.

  4. Step 4 4

Cut out the larger cross from white felt.

  5. Step 5 5

Then cut out the smaller cross from red felt.

  6. Step 6 6

Cut out the two thicker strips from white and the two thinner from red.

  7. Step 7 7

Place these on top of the heart.

  8. Step 8 8

Place the cross on top, just to check it's all looking good.

  9. Step 9 9

Cut a length of ribbon as your hanger.

  10. Step 10 10

Pin to the middle of the blue heart and sew in place.

  11. Step 11 11

Flip over and sew the first white stripe on and then the second using white thread.

  12. Step 12 12

Stitch the red strips in to the middle of the white, using a zig-zag stitch and red thread.

  13. Step 13 13

Place the white cross on top and stitch in place with white thread.

  14. Step 14 14

Then place the red on top and stitch using red thread.

  15. Step 15 15

I made a little sent pouch for the middle by folding a piece of paper in to an envelope and filling with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Tape well with masking tape.

  16. Step 16 16

Place the scent pouch in the centre of the hearts.

  17. Step 17 17

Place the blue on top of the red heart and sew around with a zig zag stitch. Snip off any excess red felt from around the edges.

  18. Step 18 18

    Hang on your tree!
