For Those Holey Toe-Socks You Just Can't Bare To Throw Away
 <  Image 1 of 3  >

I LOVE toe-socks! Especially rainbow ones! They just make me happy... they make the day better!

And my mother knows this, so for each Christmas, she gets me the same pair of rainbow ones [the ones I turned into gloves] and some extra new designed ones.

I have a bunch, but I didn't used to, so I kind of wore out this pair, and they got all holey and un-wearable [sad, I know] but I COULDN'T throw them away! THATS LIKE THROWING AWAY SUNSHINE AND HAPPINESS!

lol

So I turned them into gloves

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

First you need your handy dandy pair of holey [or new, but that would kind of defeat the whole "recycling" purpose...] Colorful Toe-Socks

You COULD use normal socks... but trust me... I've tried making gloves [used to be way gothic] TONS of times... its just... MUCH easier with toe socks...

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Next, you need to notice at the toes, which color is used as the last before the sock splits into the toe sections.

    In this case, its white.

Cut along the edge of the White FARTHEST from the toes.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Measure out how long you need the glove to be to get to your fingers.

Cut on the edge of the white [the edge CLOSEST to where the toes were].

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Now if you don't have the CRAPPIEST CHEAPEST socks in the ENTIRE world, it will be obvious which is the bigtoe toe... lol.

Cut that off [it will be used for the tumb later].

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Now turn the hand part inside out, but keep the toes right-side out.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Take the toe part, and, toes facing inward, place it inside the top of the hand part

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Now, sew them together [make sure that when you sew it, some white still shows, so the stripes are more even. :D ]

I hand-stiched it, but you lucky peoplez out there can use a sewing machine.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

Now turn it back right-side out, cut off the tips of the toes [which are now being refered to as finger holes] and slip your fingers in...

    Notice anything???

WHERE THE HECK DOES YOUR THUMB GO?!

well, I may just have a solution.

Measure out how far your thumb is to the elastic band.

  9. Step 9

    Step 9

Cut a slit between [if possible] the white stripe big enough for the thumb part. [it makes a cut little glove monster :D]

If you are lazy or just don't like the look, you can just use the slit as the thumb hole and be done.

If so, HAVE FUN! Nice tutoring you, cya later :D

  10. Step 10

    Step 10

For you thumb-likers... on with the tut. :D

Do basically the same thing you did with the fingers, butthis time, you have to make sure that if you have a design on the tops [like the candy canes on this] make sure you place it correctly so when you but it on, the design shows where you want it to.

  11. Step 11

    Step 11

Now, cut off the tip of that... put on, and WEAR WITH PRIDE :D

Oh, and if you would so kindly notice the incredibly BAD finger nails, 75% off nailpolish, and cat scratch... Those are QUITE esential to just the "right" look :D

i did exactly this with my old toe socks except i was super lazy and i just cut the tops of the toes off...so the thumb was really awkward.
but i turn normal knee high socks into gloves too only im also lazy and i just cut the tops off so there are no individual finger holes.
but they do keep my hands warm like that cause my school is freezing and my hands are cold all the time.
plus i love my tall socks so i couldnt bare to though them away. they just all get turned into gloves. : )

great tutorial by the way!

And if you are lazy(they call me half-ass heather) you can actually get away with just snipping the tips. Sure the thumb is a little ackward. They don't unravel or anything.

Ah what a good idea, well the only pair of toe-socks I have do not get on with me, that's probably of my damn chunky calves. They will make great fingerless gloves... I need some gloves anyways :D Thanks for the great tip.
