doing this project was SO MUCH FUN!
I'm definitely going to try to get around to doing the blue and white Totoros too!
a few differences between mine and the original:
-- I didn't have fabric glue so the eyes, nose (which is barely visible here) and the belly were all sewn on.
-- I don't remember how long Banditte said it took her to make one, but I was watching tv while doing it, and also, everything was hand sewn too, so it took me a bit longer.
-- I skipped the pinching in on the sides of the ears because mine were formed that way just by the shape of the sock naturally.
-- I made sure to make his eyes look outwards, because that seems to be in his nature... unless he's actually looking at something, his eyes usually seem to be spacey looking :)
-- One thing I wanted to change with this project but never did was to add a small sack of rice or sand at Totoro's bum so he'd stand up easier and be less likely to fall over if his bum wasn't sewn perfectly.
But other than that, I pretty much followed the original project How-To.
It was fun! If you love Totoro, you need to try it!
