Description

Make unique rustic buttons using branches, sandpaper, a drill, and a little elbow grease.

Instructions

  1. Small buttons

Collect appropriately sized branches. (Ours were leftovers from another project.) Be sure to use dry branches as green wood will split when it dries. Please see Raven W's helpful comment below for more detail.

  2. Small buttons 202

Use secateurs to cut branches to desired button size. Consider leaving on twiggy bits if you are aiming for decorative buttons. Functional buttons work best with smooth sides.

  3. Small buttons 204

Sand opposite sides of the branches to create two flat areas (front and back), or leave natural.

  4. Small button 20cardi 201

Use a cordless drill to make two-hole buttons. Finish with a beeswax polish, or leave unfinished. There you have it - a simple, quirky, rustic toggle button.
