i made this with ages 5+ (3 at a time). they love it (making it and playing with it on our camping themed day) though i'm the only one that added more than 2 eyes.
the jokes are critical to this craft. critical.

cut a piece of red felt for a tongue.
place the tongue underneath and sew the opening firmly shut. (otherwise your mother may shout at home "who left snake brains all over the floor?!")2 choices for closing the other end- sew at the small end of the tie or sew just behind the stuffing to keep it fluffy (like i did). most kids chose to sew the end.

choose your buttons/beads and sew them on the head. stitch them on at least 3 times so they don't fall off which would cause your mother to say "who left snake eyes in the kitchen?!"

Attack your friend with your new pet.
Wrap it around your neck or waist.
Hang it from the ceiling or wall to display.
