I did this tomy converse laces. cool right. To match my belt : )
first i layed down drop cloth then took the laces that i wanted to die and a rubber band and kind of rolled them up and put the rubber band on them. then die one end one color and the other end another color.
i hope i explained this well enough to understand.

Oh those are pretty!! How did you do this, did you wind the shoelace tie it with an elastic band and then dye it? I'm curious to know XD
