When my bf and I first moved into our new flat, we didn't have much furniture - an old cafe table loaned from my mum, mismatched camping chairs, and THE most disgusting old sofa, from my BF's brother and sister-in-law.

We knew we were eventually going to get a lovely leather corner sofa to replace it (once it came back on sale (inevitable) and we had drummed up enough cash for it), but this thing was truly vile. It wasn't just the ridiculously gross fabric:

But its previous owners - much that I love them - are smokers and party animals: they throw a lot of parties with other smokers. The thing just stank and was caked in years of grime. It actually felt slightly damp to the touch because it was so utterly filthy.

Obviously, being the vaguely creative sort (and also being repulsed by filth!) I had to do something about it. When I stumbled across some printed fabric on clearance, it seemed like kismet.

I've never reupholstered furniture before, and probably never will do again (seeing as how difficult it was to do: I never REALLY finished it), but I'm pleased with how it turned out, even if we only used it for a few months.

I realise there are bits at the bottom whilst remained untouched, but I simply didn't have the tools (or indeed the inclination) to struggle with the task! My bf is not really the crafty sort (much as I try to encourage him ) and there was just no way I could've done it alone.

Anyway, it made a wonderful Cowch for the few months we had it, before it was replaced. There's still a little bit of that fabric left. And we kept the cushions
