T Shirt To Tote

  • Completed Project: T Shirt To Tote Picture #1

Super easy tote.

My beloved Nintendo shirt got stained from my 1 year old. ((sigh)). So I had to make something out of it I could use all the time. So I made it into a tote. (=

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Start with a shirt or fabric if you like. Any size you want.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

If you are using a shirt measure out a square on the shirt any size you like and cut through both layers of the shirt.

If you are using fabric make 1 long strip of fabric, You will be folding it in half later.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

This is the bottom of the shirt. You will use this for the handles. Cut in half. You should have to strips that are about 3 inches wide and however long you want them. Fold in half and sew up. Turn right side out, put aside for later. (Or you can cheat like I did I used the ends of an old pillow case.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

If you are using a t-shirt sew up all three sides.

*everyone* Fold fabric in half, and draw a line about 3 centimeters down from the top. Make notches where you would like to have your handles. Then cut inbetween the notches.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Now you will flatten down the bottom edges, this will become a gusset.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Draw a line as wide as you would like the gusset to be and sew along the line. Repeat to other side.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Turn bag right side out, fold along the lines and insert handles where you cut the slits. Pin and sew about a centimeter down.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

Unfold and sew 1 Centimeter down and sew all around the top of the bag. Embelish if you want and your done!
