I crocheted the top of the dress and sewed on a hand-embroidered patch. Then I hemmed the fabric and sewed it, with a few little pleats, onto the top of the dress.
I don't know exactly how long the entire project took me-- I've been working on it for a few days now and 6 hours is just a guesstimate.
