Stripey Nails

Yay!
 <  Image 1 of 2  >

This isn't really hard to do at all but people at my school always say to me
"OMG! Are those your real nails? How did you do that!?"
(I find the people at my school are rather easily amused)

Anyway Here is the process minus pictures because it is very hard to take pictures with wet nails.

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Alright we're going to do this with my mad skills with Windows Paint.

    Step 1: Gather your colors
(two or three, here I am using black, red and white)

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Step 2: Place your boring hand on the table.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Step 3: Paint two coats of the lighter color.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

    Step 4: Let dry completely.

In the meantime find out how many things you can do without the use of your hands, like walking, breathing etc.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Step 5: Grab your other color(s)
Quickly move making one diagonal line.
If you choose to do more than two colors I would put one color more towards the left and one towards the right leaving a diagonal strip of the base color visble in the middle.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

    Your Done!

    NOTE:
When striping you WILL have excess polish on your skin around your nails, don't worry about it and just peel it off when your nails are completely dry.

I used to do something similar when I was in high school, but my hands aren't steady, so I used masking tape to make perfect lines. You just add the tape after the first coat and paint the second color, removing the tape immediately (don't wait for the paint to dry first). You can do other things with the tape too like, camouflage nails, or even for a simpler way to do white tips for a French manicure.

Oh, and use a razor knife to cut the tape into shapes. Hope my input helps.
