DIY your home!

I wanted some cute storage boxes without breaking my budget. I decided to make some of my own. It came out a whole lot cheaper to make them myself and I got them to look exactly how i wanted.

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

    Gather your supplies =]
    This is what you'll need!

  2. Step 2 2

Your cardboard can come from anything. Mine came from some boxes from my work. You can get these for free at any fast food resturant! Just ask if they have any empty boxes theyre throwing away.

    OR

You can always buy ready made boxes of the size you'd like, but thats a bit pricey.

  3. Step 3 3

This is what I'm basing my storage box size from (bought these a long time ago).

  4. Step 4 4

Make your measurements. My box happens to be 10 3/4 x 11.

  5. Step 5 5

Mark your measurements on the cardboard.

  6. 6

This step is done however you feel most comfortable. I marked my measurements so i cant cut it all out in one step to make it easier to tape.

You may cut it out one square at a time (5 pieces) or make it a two piece, three peace, etc.

Like I said, it's up to you!

  7. Step 7 7

Alright, once you've figured out how to cut it, tape it all together with duct tape. Make sure it nice and secure.

  8. Step 8 8

Now mark your measurements on your contact paper or whatever paper you've decided to use.

  9. Step 9 9

Once you have placed it on the box, mark the places where you will make a slit for the ribbon to go thru.

  10. Step 10 10

You may use your Xacto knife or the box cutter for this.

  11. Step 11 11

Your ribbon of choice will go through the slits. You can use use knife/cutter to help it get through but be careful not to puncture the ribbon!

  12. Step 12 12

You make take the sides or make knots like i did.

  13. Step 13 13

This is your finished product! =]

  14. Step 14 14

Or you can go a few extra steps and add a bow! i used a thick print pattern ribbon for this! <3
