  1. Step 1

    Step 1

For each stitch marker you will need a jewellery clasp, a head pin, a k or p bead and some extra cute beads.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Place the beads on to the head pin in the order you want.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Snip off any excess wire off the head pin so that you are left with 1/3" of wire above the beads.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Take some chain nose pliers and bend the wire at a 90 ฐ angle above the beads.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Still holding the pin with the chain nose pliers, take some round nose pliers and bend the wire in to a loop. Remove the chain nose pliers and then slip the end of the wire in to the top of the first bead.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

    6. Open the hoop on the jewellery clasp by twisting one side forward with pliers.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

Slip the loop of the head pin on to the jewellery clasp and close the hoop by twisting the open side backwards with the pliers. Now when you need to mark a stitch, simply attach the clasp to the loop. Make as many as you need for your knitting project.

What a great idea, the k and the p are really useful with novelty yarns where the stiches lose their definition.

I just stumbled into your site yesterday, and I love the ideas here! Neat and chic! :)

Please, keep up this good work and of course thank you for sharing these wonderful projects.

(You can have a look at my blog but it is unfortunately has nothing to do with crafts and it is in Turkish.)

Awesome idea! I just learned to knit and someone suggested something like this to keep track, but I thought it would be bulky and more hassle than it's worth, but your creation looks very useful. Thanks!
