I recently bought a box lot of sewing supplies. In this lot I found a box full of no. 4 heavy duty steel hook closures. It would take me several lifetimes to sew enough clothing, etc. to use all of these hooks for their intended purpose. So after getting some helpful advice from some wonderful crafters, this is what I came up with.
I joined the hooks with jump rings and attatched some seafoam green glass pearls with some paddle head pins. After adding the beads, I used pliers to crimp the hooks closed. The necklace is finished with a lobster clasp. The earrings were done similarly with jump rings and beads, just added a hook to make the earrings. The set now belongs to my sister. She seems to really like them. I was surprised at how nicely a bunch of hook closures came together to make jewelry. Thanks for looking.

this is a terrific idea! as a seamstress that loves yard sales/thrift shops, i get a lot of those bags of odds and ends too, that always have these in them.

I love this and may even try it out for myself if you don't mind. How did you attach the hooks to each other? It could be done with jump rings as well, but I don't see any there in your piece.

Thanks for all the kind compliments!

I'd love it if you gave it a try! I'd like to see your version. The picture is pretty fuzzy but, the hooks are actually joined with jumprings.
