A Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired stained glass rose ring!
After our visit to House For An Art Lover in Glasgow, I was left so inspired by the stained glass roses that decorate the house that I decided to recreate the design as a ring using shrink plastic.

    Step 1

    Begin by sketching your rose design on a piece of paper using a thick black marker pen. Start by drawing a loop or circle and then continue making it larger and adding additional loops around the first.

    When you're happy with the design, thicken up the lines a little with the black pen.

    Cut out the template using scissors.

    Trace around the template onto black and clear shrink plastic.

    Cut out the shrink plastic roses.

    Use the scissors or a cutting knife, to remove the white areas from the paper rose template.

    Use a cutting knife to cut the shrink plastic to the same design.

    Place the cutout black rose on top of the clear shrink plastic rose and start filling in the petals with a pink marker.

    Alternate between pink and red until the flower is complete.

    Bake the shrink plastic roses in a warm oven for a few minutes until shrunken and flatten with a book.

    Once cool, glue the black rose onto the clear rose.

    Finally glue the rose onto a ring base.

    You're ring is ready to wear when the glue has dried. Hold it up to the light to see the stained glass effect.
