Square yoyos

Take a 5 inch fabric charm square and turn it into a square yoyo.

  1. Step 1

    Cut fabric into 5 inch squares or buy charm pack as I did.

  2. Step 2

    Thread and knot needle place about 1 to 2 inches from corner with 1/4 edge turned down do a running stitch.

    Continue till you are with in 3/4 inch of corner.

    Flip corner down

  5. Step 5

    Continue around square do not back stitch at corners or you will not be able to close your squared up yoyo.

    Go all the way around

    Draw up thread carefully so as not to get knots in your thread.

    Continue to close keeping gathers neat

    Close yoyo all the way and go through all the gathers again I like to do this to give my yoyo added strength you can also double your thread up. I have done this both ways and the whole in the middle is smaller the way I do it now but it takes a tiny bit longer to make. This whole is before I went around a second time.

    Finish yoyo with a figure 8 knot make loop

    Pass your needle through loop.

    Pass needle through loop again

    Draw up knot.

    Pass needle through 4 or 5 more gathers one more time and cut thread. This hole is after I have gone around twice see the size difference. From step 9

These look awesome, I could imagine making hanging curtains with them. What kind of projects do you use them for?

I have made blankets, skirts, vest, ( smaller sizes for closthes), garland, and embellishments on clothes, hair clips, and other craft projects sewn on paper to make floweer center or peoples fat bodies and add button heads and things of that sort any thing you can think of.

you can but little forms to make different shaped yo yos at joannes.
there are hearts, and stars, and circles, and probably more.
theyre so sweet.
