Skinny Tie

Look smart with a DIY skinny tie.

  1. Step 1

    Make yourself two templates, one of a large triangle (double the width you'd like your tie) and a smaller triange.

  2. Step 2

    Draw the shapes out on to your fabric.

  3. Step 3

    Use a ruler to extend the length of your triangles. Make the smaller half and larger half separately and draw out the triangles to a length that you are happy with.

    Cut out the two shapes.

  5. Step 5

    Decorate the front of the larger triangle if you want.

  6. Step 6

    Pin up the two rough bottom edges of the larger triangle.

  7. Step 7

    Sew along the bottom so that the edge is left nice and neat, repeat this with the smaller triangle.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

    Fold the ties in half so that the wrong side is facing the outside and pin along the sides.

  9. Step 9

    Step 9

    Sew along the edges.

  10. Step 10

    Step 10

    Fold in half and you're ready to face the town.

Very nice... I will definitely give this a try for my sister's fiance. He refuses to wear any other type of tie. :P
