My partner and I have way too many scarves. not wanting to get rid of them I went to the hard ware store and bought the cheapest towel bar there that was made of metal...
It helps keep my scarves off the floor as that -unfortunately for me- tends to happen often. the towel bar I bought although thin is sturdy enough to handle up to a dozen scarves.
