I found some tutorials on the internet for scarves like this... But none seemed to be very helpful.
I got a basic idea on how to do it though... So here it is! My own tutorial for how to make a shredded T-shirt scarf!
So I'm going to try my best at giving my first tutorial ever!
I hope you guys can stay with me.
It's a super easy project, and it only takes about ten minutes.
So let's get started!
1
Lay your chosen T-shirt or jersey on a flat surface. (I used my bedroom floor.)
2
Cut the sleeves and neck off of the shirt so you are left with a square-ish rectangle shape.
3
Take the left side of the shirt and fold it over in half, to meet the right side of the shirt.
4
Turn the shirt sideways so that the right side of the shirt is facing you. (The side that would unfold.... If that made any sense.)
And start cutting slits in it about a half inch apart from each other. Don't cut the strips all the way up to the top of the shirt though. If you want the thick stripped look, then don't go to the top. Stop about two inches before the top... Or more, or less. Your choice. It's not an exact science.
5
Once you've cut all the slits all the way to the end of the shirt, take the ends of the cuts and pull and strech and twist them.
Don't pull them so hard they rip, but just enough so they're long and stringy like spaghetti noodles.
6
Keep on stretching all the loops! (Until all of them are stretched!)
7
The finished product will be something like this.
(I know. It looks allot like the last two steps... That's 'cause I took the picture of those ones, after I had already stretched most of the loops. I wasn't thinking. SORRY.)
8
Unfold the shirt, and it should be something like this. (It depends on what kind of shirt you use as to the way it will look when it's unfolded.
9
And the last step, but certainly not the least... Try it on!
