Gotta get ready for summer!
 <  Image 1 of 5  >

I made this dress out of an old dress shirt and some remnants I had around the apartment. I cut apart the shirt, added a skirt, some lace and straps. Again, this is totally free people inspired. I don't know how I like it yet. It is a little too short, and the fit is a little off. I need some more practice drafting patterns. It has woven lace around the neckline, a line of lace under the bust, which then has thinner ribbon ties in the black. The top under the arms and through the back has elastic to keep it snug to the body. The straps are made from orange corduroy from one of my earlier projects. Feedback is definitely appreciated as I am still trying to figure out how to improve this idea!

not bad :-) i can see what you mean when you say the fit is a bit off but it's not too noticeable. as for it being a little too short, you can always pop on opaque tights. or maybe even, jeans? your choice. overall, interesting way to transform old blouses. i esp. like the use of lace and the pattern of the skirt :-)

Thanks everyone! Jean M: Yeah it puckers a little in the front of the skirt. I didn't have enough fabric to make the skirt bigger haha. I should have just picked a different fabric, but I really liked the print. I made the whole thing without a pattern, and am not a trained pattern drafter or seamstress, thus the weird fit haha. I am learning as I go I suppose. =]

tehe well that's the best way to learn :-p lacking the training myself, i find it quite difficult to execute an idea like that, so you've made quite an impressive attempt :-)

Very pretty, I like how you incorporated the shirt!
