give some life to plain shoes!
 <  Image 1 of 5  >

beyond drawing on just shoes, this same concept can be taken to your clothing with a mixture of paint pens, sharpies, whatever! i've currently a project based around this idea, when i'm done i'll post it with more info. (:

i was out of the country before i could finish the other shoe. oops!

i primarily use these paintpens made by Elmer's Glue? they're called "Painters" and usually you can find them in Wal*Mart.

i haven't tried to draw on flipflops or anything like that - just shoes with the typical plain fabric covering.

if you happen to have white shoes, for a bigger colour palette you can use sharpies in the same manner as you would your paintpens. (:

if the fabric on your shoe is black, stick to paintpens, and be sure to layer several coats of paint if the colour isn't turning out as vibrant as you want.

don't be afraid to use your fingers to smudge around the paint if you need to!

lyrics are from Strapping Young Lad <3

ps - if you're afraid of sharpie ink bleeding from being wet, and would rather continue using paint pens, try looking into Deco markers. they're extremely nice paint pens, a bit on the expensive side but they've a much bigger colour palette and handle beautifully.

Sharpies might bleed if you get them wet, because they're ink based. Paint pens will not bleed or get runny when wet, and I can testify to the shoes above taking a hell of a beating during my Eurotrip - They still look the same except the left shoe which was done in Sharpie.

If Elmer's Painters don't have enough colour variety and you're working on black fabric, you can always try Deco markers. They're pretty expensive considering, but they have a wide variety of colours and handle real well.
