  • How to stitch a knit or crochet pouch. Ruby Purse - Step 1
    Step 1

    Work in pattern following the stripe sequence as follows: 
Row 1: yarn A.
    Row 2: yarn B.
    Row 3: yarn C.
    With yarn A and 4mm (US G/6, UK 8) crochet hook, make 45 ch.
    Row 1: Skip 3 ch (counts as 1 dc (UKtr)), 2 dc (UKtr) in next ch, 1 dc (UKtr) in next 3 ch, [dc3tog (UKtr3tog) over next 3 ch] twice, *1 dc (UKtr) in next 3 ch, [3 dc (UKtr) in next ch] twice, 1 dc (UKtr) in next 3 ch, [dc3tog (UKtr3tog) over next 3 ch] twice, rep from * once, 1 dc (UKtr) in next 3 ch, 3 dc (UKtr) in last ch.
    Row 2: Following stripe sequence, change to yarn B, 3 ch (counts as 1 dc (UKtr)), 2 dc (UKtr) in base of ch, *1 dc (UKtr) in next 3 sts, [dc3tog (UKtr3tog)] twice, 1 dc (UKtr) in next 3 sts, [3 dc (UKtr) in next st] twice, rep from * once, 1 dc (UKtr) in next 3 sts, [dc3tog (UKtr3tog)] twice, 1 dc (UKtr) in next 3 sts, 3 dc (UKtr) in last st.
    Working in stripe sequence, rep row 2 seventeen more times, ending last row with yarn A.
    Fasten off yarn.
    Edging
    With RS facing, attach yarn B to the right corner of work at the last row and continue as follows:
    Row 1: 1 ch, 1 sc (UKdc) in next 2 sts, 1 hdc (UKhtr) in next 3 sts, 1 dc (UKtr) in next 2 sts, *1 hdc (UKhtr) in next 3 sts, 1 sc (UKdc) in next 6 sts, 1 hdc (UKhtr) in next 3 sts, 1 dc (UKtr) in next 2 sts, rep from * once, 1 hdc (UKtr) in next 3 sts, 1 sc (UKdc) in last 3 sts.
    With RS facing, attach yarn B to the right 
corner of work at beg of first row and continue as follows:
    Row 1: 3 ch (counts as 1 dc (UKtr)), 1 hdc (UKhtr) in next 3 sts, *1 sc (UKdc) in next 6 sts, 1 hdc (UKhtr) in next 3 sts, 1 dc (UKtr) in next 2 sts, 1 hdc (UKhtr) in next 3 sts, rep from * once, 1 sc (UKdc) in next 6 sts, 1 hdc (UKhtr) in next 3 sts, 1 dc (UKtr) in last st.
    Fasten off yarn.
    Charm
    With yarn A and 4mm (US G/6, UK 8) crochet hook make 4 ch, sl st to first ch to form a ring.
    Round 1: 1 ch, 6 sc (UKdc) into ring, sl st to first st (6 sts).
    Round 2: 1 ch, 2 sc (UKdc) into every st to end, sl st to first st (12 sts).
    Rounds 3 and 4: 1 ch, 1 sc (UKdc) in every st to end, sl st to first st.
    Round 5: 1 ch, *dc2tog (UKtr2tog), rep from * to end, sl st to first st (6 sts).
    Fill charm with toy stuffing.
    Round 6: 1 ch, *dc2tog (UKtr2tog), rep from * to end, sl st to first st (3 sts).
    Fasten off yarn.
    Making up
    Fold the work in half with RS together and join the sides using mattress stitch. Turn through and insert the zip. Attach the charm to the zip pull by making 8 ch and attaching the other end to the charm.
