Beep! Boop! Beep! The robots are here with your lunch! Convert a hot dog to a robot friend with a few cuts of a knife. A decorated dinner roll, grapes, and edamame complete the menu. Instructions

  1. Small 113050 2f2016 01 21 153227 screen%2bshot%2b2016 01 21%2bat%2b15.24.01

Cut the hot dog crosswise into three pieces, making the top piece slightly shorter and the bottom piece slightly longer than the middle piece. Cut the round tip off the bottom of the longest piece and then cut the tip in half to use for the robot’s feet. Cut the remaining part of the longest piece into quarters from end to end. Two of these quarters will be used for the robot’s legs. Discard one of the quarters, then cut the remaining quarter in half lengthwise to make the robot’s arms.

  2. From the slice of cheese cut two small circles for eyes, a thin rectangle for the mouth, and a square for the control panel.

  3. Small 113050 2f2016 01 21 154521 screen%2bshot%2b2016 01 21%2bat%2b15.45.09

Assemble the robot using pieces of dry spaghetti to connect the head and limbs to the body piece and the feet to the legs. Carefully move the robot to the smaller tier of the bento box.

  4. Small 113050 2f2016 01 21 154602 screen%2bshot%2b2016 01 21%2bat%2b15.45.52

Use the food-safe markers to add black dots to the cheese eyes. Place the eyes and mouth on the robot’s head to make a face. Add colored dots to the cheese control panel and position it on the robot’s chest.

  5. Small 113050 2f2016 01 21 154753 screen%2bshot%2b2016 01 21%2bat%2b15.47.44

Fill the small sauce container with ketchup or mustard and place it beneath the robot.

  6. Make sure the robot stamp is very clean, and then quickly go over the entire image with the blue food marker. Stamp the image onto the dinner roll. Place the roll in the second tier of the box.

  7. Thread some edamame onto the robot pick. Put the pick in the square cup, fill the empty space around the pick with more edamame, and place the cup in the second tier of the box.

  8. Fill the empty space between the dinner roll and the edamame with the grapes.
