  • How to make a pin / slide. Ribbon Rose Bobby Pins - Step 1
    Step 1

This is all of the stuff that you will need:
Ribbon; about 2 inches of the petal color and 3 of stem, depending on how big you want your flower and stem
Thread; the color of the stamen, enough to sew securely the flower together and to the bobby pin, about a foot. (I like to double my thread for extra strength and color)
    Needle
    Scissors
    Bobby pin
    Optional stuff:
    tiny beads for stamen
super glue to secure final knot and flower placement.

    Step 2

Choose color of thread desired and thread needle i like to double over the thread. To make a large knot for the stamen, loop thread twice around finger, should look like picture. While pinching the end and in the middle of the loop, roll in between fingers. Pull knot tight at the end of the string. (If you choose to use beads you only need to tie the bead to the end of one or both threads.)

    Step 3

Take your ribbon that you want for the petal part, choose which side you want showing and stick the threaded needle down through it in the middle of the very end. Should look like picture. I like to not cut my ribbon so I can decide at the end how many petals I want.

    Step 4

This isn't the best pic, but the first few petals need to be pinch together so they don't slip.

To make the petals, use a figure eight pattern, each time passing the middle place on needle. I find it easiest the work at the very top of the needle. Each figure eight a little larger than the next. Position each figure eight in between the previous, or where ever you need petals.

This is how it should look after a few.

    Step 6

When you're flower is big enough pull the needle and thread all the way through to the big knot at the end. You can cut your ribbon at this point. Make a stitch back through the rose to secure it.

    Step 7

Choose the stem/leaf color and make a bow/ figure eight shape (same as the flower petals). Cut to desired size.

    Step 8

Take needle and thread (still attached to rose) and go through all 4 layers of the stem.

    Step 9

Wrap around and through bobby pin end, stitch through flower again. Wrap around pin and stitch on to flower. Do this so that the flower is secured on to the bumpy side of the pin and enough times to be really on there, kinda like this. Tie a knot around the pin. You can choose to use some super glue to make sure it all stays in place, but it is not necessary.
